Prison
editThis article should clarify if Leyla Zana is currently in prison or not. It states that she has been given prison sentences, yet it does not state clearly if she is currently serving these terms, or if she is awaiting further decisions or contesting the court order. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Szomsz (talk • contribs) 09:14, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Political PKK
editHer activism revolves around campaigning for PKK founder Abdullah Ocalan, whom she calls her leader. Perhaps a paragraph should be included detailing her efforts in this respect.
It has long been argued that Zana is part of the political wing of the PKK. A discussion of this, along with recent developments regarding the DTP political party she was instrumental in founding would be relevant. She was involved in the creation of one party that merged with another to create the present DTP, which she supports. Although they have long denied being the political instrument of the PKK, in much the same kind of controversary surrounding Sinn Feins relationship with IRA, there have now surfaced photographs of a leading DTP figure ungoing training at a PKK camp. Marriages between DTP members and PKK figures have also been documented. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.145.232.38 (talk) 03:52, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Source
editConflicting sources: does Amnesty International consider Leyla Zana a "prisoner of conscience"? [1] says it does, [2] says it doesn't. silsor 19:02, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
It is well-known fact by the Turkish people that she is a traitor and also a supporter of terrorist group PKK.

Kurdish flag !!!!!!!
editThe article says "(she) wore a headband with the colors of the Kurdish flag" . What she was wearing during the ceremony was a headband with the colors of the PKK flag. Perhaps today we can talk about the flag used in Norh Iraq as Kurdish flag but in that era there were not any places to be called Kurdistan and there were no Kurdish flags.--Hattusili 10:39, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- By "Kurdish flag" it means flag of the Kurdish people, not flag of Kurdistan, because that's just a geographic region. —Khoikhoi 16:59, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
what is the flag of Kurdish people, is it the same with PKK's? The thing Zana used was not related with the picture on the right.--Hattusili 20:13, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- I don't get what you're asking, the first flag on the right is the flag of the Kurds. This is the flag of the PKK. If you're right and Zana was wearing the flag of the PKK, please find me a neutral source that says so. —Khoikhoi 20:22, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
please compare the headband of Zana with the flags in PKK's site pkk.org
- Ok, so I guess red, white and green are the colors of the flag of the Kurds and the flag of the PKK, right? —Khoikhoi 21:35, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Not exactly. red, yellow and green are the colors of the flag of the PKK so I propose to change "headband with the colors of the Kurdish flag" to "headband with the colors of the PKK flag". Please do not misunderstand me I'm not trying to justify the detention of a person with a parliamentary immunity but we must tell the events in a neutral and truthful way.--Hattusili 10:48, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- I understand. Do you have a reliable source that says she was wearing the colors of the PKK flag? —Khoikhoi 17:25, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
please check this site for her photo in TGNA.[3]--Hattusili 17:39, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure what it says, as I do not know Turkish. Does it say she's wearing the colors of the PKK? Red, yellow, and green are also the colors of the Kurdish flag, as pointed out above. —Khoikhoi 01:24, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
for flags used by Hêzên Rizgariya Kurdistan and Artêşa Rizgariya Gelê Kurdistan (armed branches of pkk)[4] [5]--Hattusili 14:34, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- tze colors red yellow and green are the colors of the kurdish people and they are used in any way by nearly all kurdish parties and organisations. but in the turkish media this colors are only the colors of the PKK. KureCewlik81 14:18, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Personal life
editWhy isn't there any info about his personal life? Is she married, how many chldren does he have? These infos should also appear in the text.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.232.147.229 (talk • contribs)
- She is married to Mehdi Zana, and that is mentioned. I don't know about any child of Leyla Zana. DenizTC 23:05, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- She had two kids back in the 80s who died shortly after birth apparently. She currently has another child if I am not mistaken. I just saw a very good internet bio in Turkish just few days ago, but I cannot seem to find it. Baristarim 23:18, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Check this, she has at least one son. DenizTC 08:02, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
