Single?

edit

@Nastradumas 2001: Can you provide sourcing confirming status as a single? ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:03, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Another Believer: I'm unsure this was a single myself. I believe it was just a loosely dropped song without any warning. Unless that qualifies? Jclaxp talk 13:46, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Jclaxp, I'm not really sure. Might be worth asking at WikiProject Songs. Want to make sure this article has the correct infobox. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:53, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Genre:"Scat"?

edit

Is "scat" a genre? If not, this term should be removed from the infobox. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:54, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I removed a reference because it was broken and the article it was trying to link to didn't refer to the song as scat. Does the other article? (I can't access it). If not there's another source here [1] Alduin2000 (talk) 09:50, 2 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Another Believer: Surely the song's genre isn't "Avant Garde"? I'm unsure exactly as it doesn't seem like Hip-Hop/Rap but google suggests that's the genre https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1GCEA_enGB906GB906&biw=1266&bih=1323&sxsrf=ALeKk032YqzK54PN0QUdf5FmIzKUBGvSAA%3A1593197124126&ei=REL2XsSnB6HFxgPlt6XQBQ&q=lift+yourself+kanye+genre&oq=lift+yourself+kanye+genre&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQAzIFCCEQoAE6BAgjECc6BAgAEEM6AggAOgcIABAUEIcCOgYIABAWEB46BwghEAoQoAFQ4PcCWPf9AmDb_gJoAHAAeACAAW-IAYQEkgEDNi4xmAEAoAEBqgEHZ3dzLXdpeg&sclient=psy-ab&ved=0ahUKEwjE2Y_lkaDqAhWhonEKHeVbCVo4ChDh1QMIDA&uact=5 Jclaxp (talk) 18:49, 26 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Materialscientist: Though the previous edit of genre seemed to have been done without reasoning I don't think it is necessarily incorrect. I wanted to ask what you thought in general. Jclaxp talk 13:45, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I see "scat" is still a listed genre... ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:20, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pinging Kyle Peake to this conversation. The Ultimate Boss (talk) 19:34, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Ultimate Boss Thank for the ping, it is important for me to participate in this discussion. I would like to tell Another Believer and Tbhotch that I do understand scat singing is not a genre, but listing "scat" is not the equivalent of listing "screaming"; I mean "screamo" is obviously not listing screaming and it is an acceptable genre, so scat is obviously not listing scat singing just because it is targeted to that page and should be an acceptable genre - the reason it is in that article is because Scat is a redirect. --K. Peake 20:14, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Theres a difference between “screaming” and “screamo”. One is a vocal technique. One is a genre. So your example is irrelevant - You’re arguing against a point no one has made. But if you agree that scat isn’t a genre, I suppose that’s all that matters. There seems to be agreement that scat isn’t a genre. (Because it’s not.) Kyle Peake, I suggest removing "scat" as a genre unless other editors start saying they prefer to keep. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:48, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
My 2c: Scat is not a genre. Doctorhawkes (talk) 07:03, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've removed "scat" as a genre from the infobox, per above discussion. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:56, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Another Believer I am fine and wish to not contest that edit even in the slightest at this point, though should I remove scat from any other article(s) where I have listed it as a genre? --K. Peake 16:49, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Kyle Peake, Yes. Scat is not a genre. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:20, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
