New taxonomy
editAccording to new researches it has been proposed a new classification of the genus Betula. In particular it is presented in this book:
- Ashburner, K. and McAllister, H.A. 2013. The Genus Betula: A Taxonomic Revision of Birches. Kew Publishing, Richmond, Surrey.
then supported by this paper:
- Wang, N., McAllister, H. A., Bartlett, P. R., & Buggs, R. J. (2016). Molecular phylogeny and genome size evolution of the genus Betula (Betulaceae). Annals of botany, 117(6), 1023-1035.
The classification with subgenera and sections are available on this document: Identification keys for birches. Giovanni Caudullo (talk) 13:45, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
