Tenses
editIf anybody has time, the tenses in this page are way inconsistent. Riverbend 16:20, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
The main characters' info is the same as the referring page
editI think that these character descriptions (for main characters) should be expanded, at least to the length of the supporting characters' descriptions. As of now, it is almost verbatim the same as the referring page, so I don't see why it should have the same info twice. I will soon expand the character descriptions for the main characters if nobody objects. Riverbend 16:30, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Wasn't Giles gone for awhile?
editIt says that Giles was on the opening credits, I think this should be changed for accuracy - wasn't he not on the opening credits the whole time? It seems misleading. Any thoughts? Riverbend 16:31, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Plus, there were other characters (like, e.g., Riley, Spike, Anya, Tara) who have appeared in the opening credits at various points. I am going to rework the wording if nobody objects. Riverbend 16:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Faith was technically also listed in the opening credits for the episode "Who Are You?". Personally I don't see her as a supporting character, rather than a recurring one, but I still think it should be considered moving her to the other section. After all, she was a pretty crucial character for some tome. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Andrudis (talk • contribs) 09:02, 22 March 2007 (UTC).
Season 8
editWhy are there villains for Season 8, when there wasn't one?
Seasons 8 coming out right now in comic book form
?
editWhat's the point of this page? All the characters mentioned have their own article and this whole article is summarised in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. What purpose does it serve? Paul730 14:35, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, no point to this page. IMO it should either be reworked or deleted. Minor characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a much better article. Paradoxian (talk) 13:45, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Woah
editThe article makes no mention of the fact that Season Eight is a comic book. No real world perspective at all, clearly we're following the seasons of these real people's lives.~ZytheTalk to me! 00:16, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Huge Mistake?
editSince when was Faith in the opening credits? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.50.50.121 (talk) 21:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't know she was. Should someone put her under "other" in the recurring catagory?(J52y (talk) 11:50, 17 January 2009 (UTC))
- I just watched all of season 3 this week and she definitely was never in the opening credits. She was listed since Episode 03x03 as "and Eliza Dushku as Faith" 68.8.218.114 (talk) 08:38, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Her image appeared sometimes in the title montage, no? Perhaps that was what someone meant. —Tamfang (talk) 01:12, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Expansion of character descriptions
editFor some reason this character page is very incomplete. The page of minor characters has much more thorough descriptions! I'm going to work on this for awhile, but I need someone else to carry on with the Season Eight and other non-television information, as I know nothing about that stuff. Thanks.--TEHodson 10:56, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- Never mind. I see this is meant to be just a list. I have therefore explained that at the top of the page to avoid its being tagged yet again.--TEHodson 11:12, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Recurring characters
editIn the "Recurring Characters by season" section are listed many one-time only characters. Shouldn't they be removed from the list, as the list is specified "recurring"?--TEHodson 07:27, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- Never mind. I was reading a different page. I seem to go blind or stupid when on this article. I'll go away now.--TEHodson 07:34, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

editHow is the Main/Recurring/Guest partition defined for seasons 8–9? —Tamfang (talk) 21:02, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
there isnt cause there is no season 8 or 9, there has been a lot of vandalism on this page recently for whatever reason, infact i fixed it earlier this week and now have to do it again. how do we suggest locking a page for editing?? there are 6 or 7 bad edits happening in sequence to prevent easy roll back of edits, all are coming from the same ip on the same day Darthspongebob (talk) 23:47, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Main Character table
editI've reverted the edits to the main character table. It's ordered by first appearance as a main character, then by credit order. It can be sorted by count, if desired. Ordering it by count removes the ability to see it by first appearance then credit order. Will Bradshaw (talk) 13:31, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Merging some of the character pages to this page?
editI mean does there really need to be a whole article on the Anointed One? The article does not cite any sources, shouldn't it just be mentioned here? Do we really need a whole article on the Trio, when all of it's members: Warren Mears, Jonathan Levinson and Andrew Wells each already have their own page? I am all for keeping the pages if relevant, but I am not sure they all are. And I think it is easier to provide sources for fewer pages than so many, as a lot of the Buffy and Angel articles are in a poor condition.
- I am definitly for keeping the following character pages of the Buffyverse:
- Buffy, Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Giles, Oz, Anya, Spike, Tara, Riley, Angel, Dawn, Doyle, Wesley, Gunn, Fred, Connor, Lorne, Spike, Harmony, Illyria, The Master, Drusilla, The Mayor, Adam, Glory, The First, Darla, Joyce, Faith, Satsu (includes all the main characters and main villains of Buffy and Angel, as well as the characters which cite very good sources and are very important in the series)
- I would rather keep those than merge it (by just looking at google books I found a lot of sources for all of these characters):
- I am not sure about these (by just looking at google books I found sources for all of these characters):
- Jenny (14 episodes, but has a big influence on the characters and the series), Snyder (19 Buffy episodes), Robin (14 Buffy episodes + Buffy comics), Kennedy (13 Buffy episodes + Buffy comics), Kate (14 episodes + Angel comics, but the articles on characters, that are more important like Lindsey McDonald or Lilah Morgan have been redirected)
- I am even less sure about these (by just looking at google books I found sources for all of these characters, but do they really need their own page?):
- And I would propably move parts of the following pages to this page, or the Angel character page, or just redirect it:
- Anointed One (only 6 Buffy episodes, unsourced since 2004), Trio (there are already pages on each individual of the trio), Groosalugg (only 9 Angel episodes), Caleb (only 5 Buffy episodes)
What do you think about merging some of the articles? And which ones would you like to merge (in a whole or just parts) to this page, which ones would you just redirect? --Dynara23 (talk) 15:00, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- Since there isn't any reply I will redirect the Anoited One. Since it is a page without any sources and the character is only 6 episodes on the series. I will leave the others. Dynara23 (talk) 02:51, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
Found this by way of a "long plot" tag on Warren Mears. Does this guy really need his own article? Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 05:36, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think he doesn't need his own article. Everything he does is with the trio. Jonathan and Andrew both act for a long period of time without the trio, so I think differently about both of their articles. Jonathan is in 5 seasons without even mentioning the trio, including being the main character in the opening titels for one episode. So he is in more seasons alone than with the trio. Andrew plays a big role in season 7 and later in the comics. He also is in Angel without the trio. For me it would be okay to either delete the Trio article and keep the individual articles or to delete the Warren article and keep the trio article. To compare a similar deletion discussion, the Initiative article has been deleted a while ago. But I don't know how others think about this.
- For example I believe, that the six episode character the anoited one doesn't need an article, but somehow others think differently (as proven by the recent edits of that page). You will find a few sources about him, but you will find sources about all the other guest or recurring characters. I think the sources are enough for mentioning him on the list of characters page, but not on his own page. There are sources on every one-episode-character of Buffy, but I do not think that means that every one-episode-character needs their own article, exspecially compared to other character articles that were deleted. If you just look at the Buffyverse, forexample characters like Lilah Morgan have been redirected after a deletion discussion, however far less important character pages are still available. If you take a look at other TV series, even main character pages were deleted. But I think in the future also some of the character pages of Buffy will be deleted (exspecially since they are in such a bad condition), hopefully not the main characters or main villans. Right now I will still voice my opinion against the deletion of these pages, like I did in the the Watcher deletion discussion, but I don't know how active I will be in the future on Wikipedia. And I always found the deletion on the english wikipedia pretty random, depending on which members voice their opinions. --Dynara23 (talk) 09:23, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- I'm hesitant to merge to the Trio page. That gets us into issues of disambiguation, since the term has several other uses, and I doubt many people will search for Trio in the context of Buffy anyway. TBH, I question how many characters aside from the main cast need their own pages anyway. RN almost all material on Warren is in-universe, which means there hasn't been much real world discussion about him, which IMO means he isn't notable enough for an article. I'd just as soon AfD this guy, but then I'm a filthy deletionist who hates "fan tribute" articles on principle. Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 20:43, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- Well I honestly would prefer to delete/redirect the Trio article and keep the rest. The three sources can also be added to the other pages. The article on the Scooby Gang has also been redirected. Concerning the sources: just because there weren't any sources added it doesn't mean there aren't any sources. Google news, google scholar and google books give plenty of results for Warren. "Warren Mears" "Buffy" on Google even has 11.800 results. I am sure that with that many sources you will find suitable things to add. I am just not sure if s.o. will do it though. It takes plenty of time for a page you haven't created, for a character that you propably don't even like. Plus there are more important Buffy characters, who need additional citations. I don't know if the bare existence of sources does mean that an article on the English wikipedia is kept, but if that is so Warren will propably be kept. I don't mind if the Warren article will be deleted, so if you will add it to the AfD I will not oppose it, however I will also not support it, since there are plenty of sources. Right now, I would support the deletion/redirect of the Trio article, Anointed One, Groosalugg, Caleb, D'Hoffryn, Halfrek & Amy Madison. I don't think they are important enough. I only might decide differently if s.o. would make a good article out of it. If you feel an article isn't good enough keeping, AfD it. If s.o. has described you as a "f* deletionist who hates "fan tribute" articles on principle", I don't think so. Otherwise you would probably have not participated here and asked for opinions. There just might be people who oppose the deletion of Warren. If that is so and the article is kept this should be alright, the same if the article is deleted. --Dynara23 (talk) 18:58, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- If there are RS for Warren, it will pass AfD. I've been down this road before. The inclusionists love to "save" articles from AfD by finding sources, but won't lift a finger to make any actual improvements to the article.
- The problem w/ the Warren article and others like it is that they're written MOS:INUNIVERSE and thus end up as glorified fanpages. The key to notability is to discuss the character from a quasi-academic standpoint highlighting real-world discussion. I'd say the best course is probably to overhaul the Warren article w/ a focus on MOS:REALWORLD. Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 21:35, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Dynara23 I've just gone through each Trio member's article and removed the long, in-universe fictographies. It seems early WP loved these detailed descriptions, but they're not desirable anymore. Anyone who's curious can follow the links already provided under Appearances and find more info there.
- I also merged the Trio article (what little was properly sourced) into Warren. As the nominal leader, I think it makes sense there. I believe the shorter articles are far more befitting of these less notable characters. Take a look and LMK what you think. Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 21:54, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think it is fine. Thanks for you effort. Dynara23 (talk) 06:59, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
