Blackrock ambiguity
editIs it clear from the show whether Blackrock, County Cork or Blackrock, Dublin was meant?Autarch (talk) 12:42, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Tense
editAll the sections which describe things happening in episodes should really be written in the present tense and not the past tense. i.e., "Mrs Doyle tells Ted ...' rather than "Mrs Doyle told Ted that ...". FairPlay, though, to whoever did this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.101.50.143 (talk) 16:33, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Father Ted
editThere should at least be a general bit of information of father ted in this article, not just a hyperlink to a different article. -Xcuref1endx (talk) 06:47, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Mrs. Doyle's first name
editThe following discussion was started on the Talk:Father Ted aticle before this article was created but might still be relevant.
Wasn't the scene with Mrs. Doyle's first name in it cut because the episode ran too long? I don't think it was ever meant to be a secret, it was just an accident that it was never mentioned on screen (of course, by the time The Mainland appeared, the "mystery" was sufficiently entrenched for them to make a rather poor in-joke about it.) --Bonalaw 07:49, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
That's right, the only mention Mrs. Doyle's name is in the script. I'm going to edit this, if anyone wants to put it back in can they provide a citation of the reference? Cheers, Dave 22:59, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've edited this discussion section to remove Ms. Doyle's first name - not everyone WANTS to know her first name. It counts as spoiler; having it laying around in the discussion may spoil things for others. I will add a link to the article to a fan site where her name is given. - Before I begin I would like to remind readers that Wikipedia is intended to be an exhaustive knowledge source so it would have spoilers. In the published draft script of the episode Competition Time Mrs. Doyle's first name is given as Joan. However Graham Linehan stated in the DVD commentary with Arthur Matthews that Mrs. Doyle's first name was "going to be Joan" and in a video message at the 2007 Tedfest he was going to reveal the first name of Mrs. Doyle but his voice was obscured by the sound of breaking glass which implies that it might be considered canon that the real forename of Mrs. Doyle is never revealed.Tk420 (talk) 20:55, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- Then again I might not have been listening carefully enough to the commentary. I found the relevant line in the commentary for Old Grey Whistle Theft but Graham Linehan said they "did have a name for Mrs Doyle" but his use of the past tense still implies that the name Joan is not necessarily considered canon.Tk420 (talk) 12:02, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Marital status of Mrs Doyle
editAt the time of writing this Mrs Doyle is mentioned as being widowed. This is not mentioned anywhere in the show. In the DVD commentary by Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews the writers debated the character's marital status asking if she was widowed or if her husband was alone at home while Mrs Doyle was working. If stating her marital status in the article can the editor please cite a reliable source.Tk420 (talk) 20:35, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
