Jon Hamm?

edit

I just read he attended UT for a little more than a year, but then dropped out. Should he be added to the list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.118.133.133 (talk) 03:26, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Student Leadership

edit

In response to two recent additions, serving in a Student Leadership capacity at the University doesn't make people notable enough for this list. Agree/disagree? jareha (comments) 01:10, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I'm the main editor of the Aggie Notables article. I only focused on people who earned state/national prominence. By the way, feel free to make any comments/suggestions about that article on its discussion page.--Blueag9 05:49, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

List overhaul

edit

This list has been in disarray for a long time and has been in need of major re-work to achieve FL status. In accordance with the other WP:WikiProject Universities FLs, I have separated this list into List of University of Texas at Austin alumni and List of University of Texas at Austin faculty. On this article, I have split the alumni out into the appropriate subcategory tables; however, there are A LOT of alumni, and I need help moving them all into the tables. If you need guidance in the formatting, just look at another portion or see FLs List of Brigham Young University alumni, List of Dartmouth College alumni, etc. I have done a lot of work on this and hope you can help complete it. This type of list helps ensure only notable and citation-supported alumni are listed (as all WP:red-linked articles should be created before FLC); remember that Wikipeida is not a directory (see WP:NOT). Hope this helps...Hook 'em Horns! --Eustress (talk) 20:33, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sally Kern

edit

Sally Kern is not an Austin alumni, apparently she graduated from Arlington http://www.votesmart.org/bio.php?can_id=46295 therefore I've removed her from the table. - Noosentaal(talk) 13:47, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nice catch...that's why we need citations for everyone! --Eustress (talk) 14:24, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yay calculators! This is in order to make the charting and citing coordination proccess easier. Anyone can update when appropriate, but please log the changes below. Thanks! The Earwig (User | Talk | Contributions) 01:07, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nice to have help verifying all this info. Some of the notability descriptions are too vague and need to be more specific; e.g., "mathematician" is not very informative and does not convey one's notability. —Eustress talk 16:29, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Good point. If you are referring to me specifically, then I was just using what was there before I made the charts. Definitely more detailed explanations of the people's notability is a good idea. The Earwig (User | Talk | Contributions) 02:56, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've added a 31 swimming Olympians that meet WP:NOLYMPICS from a UT media guide that's included below the new group. NThomas (talk) 06:07, 31 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Latest overhaul

edit

Since the last major update happened in 2009, i took the freedom and overhauled the list a bit.
I reworked the sections a bit (especially the entertainment sector), and worked all the recent additions into the list format. I deleted Jayne A. Howell (can't find anything about her), Drew Berry (someone entirely different, obviously), Nobuharu Asahara (went to the Texas Christian University) and Christopher G.B. Pearsall (again, can't find anything about him). Also, i added the Duplass-Brothers, and moved some people. I tried to find and add as many "class years" and "degrees" i could, but especially the sports section still lacks a lot.
