Incorrect name
This article should be renamed List of Volkswagen Group factories, and include all the factories from their other marques. 78.32.143.113 (talk) 08:23, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- Since this article is all about Volkswagen group factories, it should then include all VAG brands' factories and facilities (thus not only their mainstream ones), ie. Bugatti, Lamborghini, Scania, Bentley, Porsche etc. 85.75.100.108 (talk) 09:39, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I agree it should also include Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti. But I don't agree with Porsche, because whilst Porsche now technically owns VWAG, it isn't actually part of the Group. The only Porsche factory which should be included is the Zuffenhausen factory where the mighty Audi RS2 was built. Scania is a difficult one - because whilst VWAG has effective voting rights over Scania, the Scania company is actually legally held as a sole company in Sweden. But I'll concentrate on the mainstream marques first, then I'll move onto the 'premier' marques later. 78.32.143.113 (talk) 14:29, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- It seems now that after 'Porsche holding' 's late financial difficulties, it will be the other way round: VAG is going to buy Porsche's car division. So Porsche car manufacturer will be considered to be under the umbrella of the VW group, even if the whole group will be (or not?...) under Porsche holding 's control.
About Scania, it is VolkswagenAG.com that makes a reference to the Scania factories - ie in Oskarshamn and Sodertalje (in Sweden), Meppel and Zwolle (in the Netherlands), Slupsk (in Poland) - as production plants of the VW Group. The difficult one is MAN in my opinion.
On the whole, the table of the VW Group factories should be confirmed and re-evaluated throughout the references made in the VolkswagenAG.com site. 85.75.100.108 (talk) 14:01, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

OK, now updated with all marques, including Lambo, Bentley, Bugatti and Scania - these are all referenced in the official Volkswagen Group website - www.VolkswagenAG.com. But the article name remains unresolved! How do we get this changed? 78.32.143.113 (talk) 07:09, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Categories again
I deleted a number of categories not because I don't believe Volkswagen Group to be manufacturers of buses, trucks or emergency service vehicles, (which would be absurd) but because I don't think this article is an appropriate one for these categories. The appropriate articles to be included in these categories would be the ones about the companies themselves (ie. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Volkswagen Trucks and Buses etc.), not a "List of..." article related to the companies in question. Note that there are no other "List of..." articles in these categories. Letdorf (talk) 23:00, 29 November 2009 (UTC).
- I'm sorry that you always seem to be disagreeing with me, but I can assure you that those categories are correct. I'll try and list some examples which encompass various marques of the whole Volkswagen Group:
- [[Category:Emergency services equipment makers]]: Volkswagen Passenger Cars (special vehicles operations - SVO) make German Polizei cars (from the former Lupo, through Golf and mainly Passat), German emergency doctor (German: notarzt) (which include the Touran, Sharan and Touareg), and German Fire Service cars German: feuerwehr (currently Passat Variants). Lamborghini even make Italian Polizia (which they recently wrote off!) and Met Police Gallardos (though I agree Lambos are a little 'tongue-in-cheek' examples). There are many Škoda cars, especially Octavias which are used as Police and First Responder medical cars. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles make Feuerwehr and Polizei Transporters, and Transporters and Crafters are also used for Ambulances. And before the larger vehicles section of VWN was spun off into MAN Latin America, the L80 and other large trucks were factory made for German emergency services. Scania make fire engines for many, many markets, even British Fire Services. VWAG major interest MAN SE subsidy MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG Feuerwehr trucks.
- [[Category:Bus manufacturers]]: Volkswagen (before they were split into Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles) used to make minibuses (from the various iterations of the Transporter). The current Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles still make T5 Transporter minibuses. Scania make buses and coaches. VWAG major interest MAN SE subsidy MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG make buses - both branded as MAN buses and Neoplan buses/coaches.
- [[Category:Truck manufacturers]]: Volkswagen (before they were split into Cars and VWN) used to made trucks. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles still make trucks. Scania have always made trucks since being majority owned by VWAG. And MAN make trucks!
- [[Category:Motor vehicle engine manufacturers]]: Surely this needs no further explanation. Volkswagen Group engines are made by virtually all their marques throught the world!
- The simple fact that this article is a "list of factories" is enough to include those categories! 78.32.143.113 (talk) 15:50, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Please read what I wrote again. I did NOT try to deny that Volkswagen Group manufactured any of these things, so there's no need to compile a list of examples to convince me that they do! I do, however, think that this Wikipedia article is not really appropriate for these Wikipedia categories, judging by the current categorisation of similar articles such as List of Ford factories or List of Toyota manufacturing facilities and the current member articles of the categories in question, which are essentially all articles whose title and topic are the company that does the manufacturing. I think I should also remind you that you have now reverted other editors' good faith attempts to rationalise the categorisation of this article six times without attempting to discuss the matter first - it's hard to see this as anything other than edit warring. Also, I'd prefer it if you left out personal attacks from your edit summaries, thanks. Letdorf (talk) 19:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC).
