editsomething like 80% of all films probably have some element of crime in them. this list needs to be more exclusive, with only films that either have a particular crime as its main focus or take place in an organized crime type setting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.86.74.135 (talk) 14:57, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Street Fighter
editI can't find much information about the recent Street Fighter film being added to this list. According to this source: "A crime film is a type of film focusing on the lives of criminals. The stylistic approach ranges from grittily realistic portrayals of real-life criminal figures (crime drama) to the far-fetched evil doings of imaginary arch-villains (master criminal films.) Criminal acts are almost always glorified in these movies."[1]. This Street Fighter film focuses on the character Chun Li, who is not a criminal. I suggest we remove it. - Silence of the Lambs is a crime film (one you agreed it is), and Claire isn't a criminal, but a cop, allmovie definition is flawed, they forgot to mention that cop movies are also crime films, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_film. SFLOCL HAS: 1. A Crime lord. 2. An anti-crime organization. 3. Crimes. 4. Criminal organization. 6. cops fighting against crime lords and criminals. 201.68.205.225 (talk) 12:14, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- That article on the crime page is entirely uncited so it is useless and needs to be re-written. I'm not here to discuss Silence of the Lambs (which isn't even on List of crime films:1990s). Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:17, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- A full fledged crime film is not listed in the list (SOTL) but prison films (TSR and TGM) which are not, at their core crime films are listed. 201.68.205.225 (talk) 12:23, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- SOTL? Please be more specific. I've listed on my talk page several sources discussing the prison film as a type of crime film.Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:27, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oh. Silence of the Lambs. I'm not here to discuss that. If there are no more further proof or cites from more valid cites than the one you added. I'll remove that cite. Thank you. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:00, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- If there is no further arguments against it. I'll be removing this film from the list in a few days. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:19, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Think this way, SF:LOCL is like Batman, Chun-Li is Batman,and M. Bison is the Joker/Criminal. How's that not a crime story? 200.161.63.217 (talk) 17:25, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Without decent sources from things which aren't just some Brazilian TV guide you find, compared to a source that is either a notable film expert (Ebert) or a site that is used from sources ranging from Microsoft to The New York Timtes, then you are are just applying weak research. Cheers. Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:09, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

NYT
editJust a quick note, a citation from the New York Times is not strong in this case, as it is pulling that genre information from the IMDb. Per WP:RS/IMDb, this is not a notable source. Thank you! Andrzejbanas (talk) 11:40, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
