Talk:List of endangered languages in India

Created list, needs tons of gnomish work

edit

Removed the ISO codes. Now that every language is linked to its article, they are redundant. The UNESCO ref will always be there if there are questions, but UNESCO is sometimes wrong, like the code for a Niger-Congo language that is only spoken in Nigeria (I checked: that wasn't a copy error on LingNut's part). Several of the ISO codes that were here have since been retired, and the Ethnologue links were dead, and several languages listed as 'none' now have ISO codes. This was therefore a WP:CONTENTFORK that required separate maintenance that it was not getting. Same rational for the other boxes, though Mexico is still a bit of a mess. — kwami (talk) 14:33, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Language family information

edit

Do you think we should add the language family of each language next to the name of the language to make the list more informative? TheAwesome21 (talk) 18:50, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I actually agree with this. There is not much information about the languages other than the area in which they are spoken. I think other additional notes could be added (if a few villages spoke the language, it is spoken by this ethnic group, etc.) if there is space to do so. 64.124.38.140 (talk) 13:55, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
