Not every film released in the past and today is reviewed by a mainstream media source (such as The New York Times) or website (such as Deadline Hollywood). Sometimes the only reviews are found in niche publications and blogs by film experts.

The Lighthouse
editDespite the film having explicit details of male sexuality, it's still hard to debate whether The Lighthouse should be put in this category. Any opinions? Runningman2027 (talk) 22:43, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
- Are there sources that describe one or more characters as being gay? That's what all films depend on to be included in the list. We don't decide if a film merits inclusion because we think it does. Splitting the list
editThe list is organized by subsections for decades and years, and I don't have a problem finding films in it, but I guess it's time to split the list as:
- List of feature films with gay characters: 1900–1999
and
- List of feature films with gay characters: 2000–present

- The cited source (a review by Roger Ebert) mentions Frank:

And so he turns in desperation to his gay brother, Frank (Harvey Fierstein), a makeup expert, who helps disguise him as the redoubtable Mrs. Doubtfire, a younger but not slimmer Miss Marple.

- As pointed out above, the source (https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/mrs-doubtfire-1993) identifies "Frank (Harvey Fierstein)" as being "gay".
I recommend that you read the cited sources before wonderingwhich character is gay
in a film. The lists for feature films with lesbian / gay / bisexual / transgender characters must include published sources and the sources must explicitly verify the L or G or B or T (i.e. if a character is a gay man, the source must say "gay" or "homosexual" for the character; the term "queer" is not good enough because "queer" is non-specific and can be interpreted to mean bisexual, non-binary, pansexual, etc.).
As for the Jack character, a source needs to be added that confirms he is gay. Without it the name has to be removed from the list. Pyxis Solitary (yak yak).
