I have to say that the LAPD is probably as equally well known, if not more so, than the NYPD. Most likely due to the simple fact that they are the local cops for Hollywood (I think- I get confused with the amount of different police juristictions)and so film makers have exposure to them. Let's add another TV series, "The Naked City", which ran from 1958 to 1963 as a half-hour and later a full hour drama.

Let's also add the 'parent' movie of the same name. "The Naked City" was released in 1948 and won several technical awards. Director was Jules Dassin.

Here's an article: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4196/is_19990421/ai_n10526043 that might help add some content to this article which really does need some cleanup and expansion. FrozenPurpleCube 07:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removed section on games

edit

From a brief glance over them, none of these games are that heavily about the NYPD, they're just games that take place partially in New York, in which there are police in the game. We should set a higher standard here: games that merely have some scenes in NY are not really "portrayals" of the NYPD. Mangojuicetalk 18:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why no books?

edit

Unlike games, which tend to be set in NYC without focusing on the police, many books explicitly focus on the the work done by the NYPD.

I'd also love to know which movies consulted with real cops, and which music videos used real cops versus actors playing cops.--Aichik (talk) 01:31, 24 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
