Dune
editDune is listed here as taking place in 10,191. This fact is established in the first line of the film, but that's not our calendar being discussed. According to the Dune wikia, a more appropriate date would be 21,267 A.D (assuming Earth years). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jelder (talk • contribs) 15:57, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
You are right! Year 0 in Dune is when the Company that makes space travel possible, the Emperor, and the Spacing Guild unite to form the Guild. Please change Dune on this list ! what are we waiting on? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.140.3.83 (talk)
- 10,191 has a note saying:
- 'The film uses the real-world Anno Domini or Common Era calendar instead of "A.G.", even though the numbers used are the same.'
- AG (After Guild) is the time used in the book. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:31, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Is the language section really necessary?
editNearly all the films are in English. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SamEtches (talk • contribs) 17:50, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it's pointless. The articles linked have that and all other info. Barsoomian (talk) 08:34, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
I would like to see this list with in the order of the year of setting.
editSo that you could look up what movies were made to happen in a particular year. So we could basically see what movies were made to happen in our year and next years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.208.186.193 (talk) 16:19, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- You can. Click on the triangles in the "Setting" column and the list will be sorted by that year. Barsoomian (talk) 16:27, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Unspecified future year
editIs there are value to these? What information are we meant to get from them? A given film was set at some point in the future but noonw has any clue what year? Seems kinda like a non-event. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.232.100 (talk) 21:11, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Star Wars is not, nor never has been set in the future.
editThe opening crawl of all 6 live action Star Wars films starts with this line, which establishes the timeframe as having existed in the past: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...." Despite the futuristic looks, the film is not set in any future point in time. The entries should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nonresonance (talk • contribs) 05:58, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
Sign your comments! The Star Wars universe is fictional, but I believe the human beings in Star Wars originated from Coruscant. This explains why it's not part of our known history or culture. It happened to human beings that originated in a yet undiscovered part of the universe. If those humans orginated on Coruscant before we did on Earth then it makes sense that their technology would have more time to advance.
If you accept that the Star Wars human beings originated on Coruscant and are not the same as the human beings that originated on Earth and therefore have no shared history or culture, then it is entirelty possible for the Star Wars story to have taken a place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. But this debate could go on and on. Lightspeed2012 17:12, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
Bladerunner
editBladerunner 2043 needs to be added to the list! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.235.250.89 (talk) 18:45, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
- It's Blade Runner 2049. I have added it. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:31, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
