The lists of horror films for the 1990s, 1980s, 1970s and 1960s are getting unwieldy particularly as the number of references increases, with long loading times for readers and sometimes Wikipedia server errors when saving edits. I agree that a split would be good, but the List of horror films of the 1990s looks the same to me. Did you mean like the List of horror films of the 2000s? Sp4cetiger (talk) 04:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

I propose closing this "soon" since I have some time today to work on the splits and it looks as if there will be no objections. I will do one decade at a time and tag the original list with {{in use}} while creating the corresponding year lists. --Mirokado (talk) 14:08, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Decade splits: implementation

I have finished the split of the 1990s decade. I will do the same with the other decades over the next few days, as convenient. No objection if someone else wishes to join in of course: if you do, please do a complete job for the decade you start on. --Mirokado (talk) 20:39, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

I am resolving some remaining quality problems such as categories and plural wl for the 2000s and 1990s lists, plus any other problems I notice in passing, before continuing with the other splits. 2000s update this evening and 1990s to follow. Then the remaining splits will be tidier to start with. I will leave further Allrovi updates for the 2000s lists until after the splits. --Mirokado (talk) 21:25, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

1970s split completed. I'm now adding {{Filmsbygenre}} to each page, so this is a tidy-up action for other pages. --Mirokado (talk) 20:51, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

1960s split completed (unfortunately some of the edit summaries mention 1970, sorry about that). This, apart from any subsequent corrections, completes the intended decade splits. The other decade lists are currently short enough as they are, but if they grow or acquire lots of references we can split them similarly. --Mirokado (talk) 21:58, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
