Request to revert changes to District - Revenue Division - Mandal table format

edit

Hi Grumpylawnchair and Arjunaraoc,

A while ago, I created a table with columns for District, Revenue Division, and Mandal to represent the administrative divisions in Andhra Pradesh. The table was structured in such a way that the district names and revenue division names were merged to avoid repetition, and the mandals were listed accordingly under the respective revenue divisions without duplicating.

However, it seems that the Revenue Division column has been removed, and the District column has been unmerged, resulting in repeated district names throughout the table. This has made the table more cluttered and difficult to read.

Could you kindly review the previous version of the table (Here) and consider reverting the changes or restoring the structure with the Revenue Division column and the merged district names? I believe this layout provides clearer information and reduces redundancy.

Looking forward to your response. RWILD 11:17, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@RWILDONLINE, Thanks for your message. The reasons for my changes are the following. 1) List of mandals should be sorted by mandal name as default. 2) For maintaining the database, it is better to generate the table from Wikidata I understand that revenue division info is lost by these changes, as that info is not available in Wikidata and is of limited importance as administrative hierarchy for land issues. I have no problem, if you prefer to revert to earlier version and make the table reflect current data. Arjunaraoc (talk) 05:36, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, @Arjunaraoc thanks for explaining the changes. I’ve restored the table to the previous format with the merged District and Revenue Division columns for clarity, incorporating the latest data as per your recent revision. Thank you for your input! RWILD 03:39, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am having doubt that Gangavaram mandal, Konaseema district and Gangavaram mandal, Alluri Sitharama Raju district are same mandals? RWILD 03:54, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@RWILDONLINE, Thanks for your updae. Gangavaram mandal in Konaseema is called P.Gangavaram with P standing for patha or old as per the updates on Telugu Wikipedia. Arjunaraoc (talk) 08:06, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think you are talking about P Gannavaram mandal or K Gangavaram mandal in Konaseema district.
I checked Gangavaram mandal, Konaseema district map using wikidata and it was outside of Konaseema district. RWILD 03:59, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@RWILDONLINE Sorry for the confusion. K. Gangavaram mandal is in Konaseema while Gangavaram mandal is in ASR. I have moved the pages and updated the links. Arjunaraoc (talk) 06:05, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
