Project page

edit

For reference, there is Wikipedia:WikiProject World's Oldest People/Oldest (known) living people per country but it is solely a project page for reference and subject to MFD. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:58, 22 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

James Richardson

edit

With the death of Alexander Imich, it shows that Wash Wesley and Conrad Johnson are the oldest but on a different list, James Richardson beats them both by a few weeks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.91.180.106 (talk) 18:40, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Read the criteria for listing:

"Pending and unverified claims greater than the verified oldest are not included." CommanderLinx (talk) 00:15, 4 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

But the other two men listed Wash Wesely and Conrad Johnson are listed as "pending". 23:16, 28 October 2014 (UTC)~

They are not older than the oldest verified man, because there isn't one at the moment. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 03:08, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

That still doesn't explain not including James Richardson since he is included on a different Wiki list (the one pertaining to living super-centenarians in the US). If none of them are verified then it wouldn't hurt mentioning all 3 instead of just 2 out of three. 306:02, 29 October 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.91.180.106 (talk)

Especially if the one that is being omitted is listed as being the oldest of the 3.

As there is no verified male supercentenarian then only the oldest pending claim should be included, unless the oldest was born in another country in which case the oldest AND oldest native-born should be included. Therefore the list is currently correct. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 07:51, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Gulli Bergendahl removal

edit

Why has Gulli Bergendahl been removed from the list? Did she pass away? Citation not good enough? What happened? Deaths in 2013 (talk) 05:25, 11 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

There was no citation. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 06:20, 11 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Gulli Bergendahl are 'just' "one of Swedens oldest women" because of the 3 disputable older cases:

1. Saro Dursun, born 1 June 1899
2. Jwani Yaukhan, born 1 July 1900
3. Chmouna Abdulmasih, born 15 June 1904

And the same goes for Albert Andersson with 3 disputable older men:

1. Miklos Kürtök, born 15 June 1906
2. Josef As, born 1 January 1907
3. Denkha Malko Gewargs, born 1 July 1907

Please note that all the dates of birth appear to be fabricated. CGT dk (talk) 02:12, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

As per the third bullet point in the lead section any person who is not a verified or pending supercentenarian case MUST have a reliable source which states that they are the oldest in their country, as the current citation for Bergendahl appears to (the translation is not especially clear), while that for Anderson did not which is why I have removed him. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 03:11, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, Saro Dursun, the top name on that list, is certainly a hoax. A local newspaper who turned up to interview her for her supposed hundredth birthday found that she had a daughter who was in her mid-thirties at that point (born when Mrs Dursun was around 65?). There's no doubt that she faked her age when she moved to Sweden in the 1980s (the family is originally Kurdish), and after that abortive interview the media have ignored her rather than risk having the shit hit the fan over her claims. As noted, the others are highly disputable too. 83.251.170.27 (talk) 23:53, 9 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

List of oldest living people by nationList of oldest living people by country – Same rationale as RM of List of oldest people by nation, repeated here: "as seen by Category:Lists by country and in the subpages and in every other country-related discussion, we use the word country not nation." Maintaining consistency in article titles across Wikipedia means using country in titles, not nation. Ca2james (talk) 15:56, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bullshit. This is just retaliation for Robert Young choosing nation's over countries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.171.120.167 (talk) 18:24, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Reported age as of 22 August 2015

edit

The heading "Reported age as of 22 August 2015" should be changed. It implied that this is their age today from those sources. The sources only confirm their birth date, not their current age. "Reported age" should be sufficient in my mind. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 06:08, 22 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Austrian update as of Oct. 1 2015

edit

Information of my friend from Statistik Austria. I asked him, if he can name me the birth months of the women who were born in 1906. The whole date is not possible!

1) Oldest Austrian person (female) Born in March 1906

2) Second oldest person (female) Born in May 1906

He gave me of course no names, but it should be Frau Anna Hämmerle, born May 29 1906.

3) The oldest Austrian man was born in August 1908. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.115.129.206 (talk) 10:39, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
