Help complete the list
editFollowing our custom, we eat hundred varieties of xaaks (greens) during Rongali Bihu (on sera bihu). That means hundreds of varieties of greens and vegetables are there in Assam. In the page List of vegetables in Assam I’m trying to enlist all the greens and vegetables found in Assam along with their local names, common names and scientific names.
Here is a humble request to all the users of WikiProject Assam to contribute in order to complete the list and also I’m eagerly waiting for creative and encouraging suggestions from the veterans in this regard.
Spelling of bitter gourd.
editIs it Kerela or Karela. I think latter gives correct pronunciation. Please advise. ChrysalSnowlax (talk) 05:12, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

- Comment: Bitter gourd is called in Assamese Kerela, in Hindi Karela and in Bengali Korola. I don't know about other languages. Since the list is based on vegetables found in Assam so I used the Assamese terms. Thanks --Footage (talk) 10:54, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. Take care. ChrysalSnowlax (talk) 02:36, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved as proposed. No opposition for over two weeks, notability concerns cannot be addressed at RM. And (supervoting here) "culinary" seems unnecessary. Jenks24 (talk) 12:49, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
List of vegetables in Assam → List of vegetables used in Assamese cuisine – Per WP:PRECISE: Due to the fact that there are no legal restrictions of using certain vegetables in the polity of Assam, a more logical article title would seem merited. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 08:45, 12 August 2014 (UTC) 174.3.125.23 (talk) 14:20, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- After further research, I see that we have an article titled list of culinary vegetables. Would it be more appropriate then to title list of vegetables in Assam to list of culinary vegetables used in Assamese cuisine instead?174.3.125.23 (talk) 05:51, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Comment: Why do we even need this article when we have List of plants used in South Asian cuisine. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:01, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Some items located on List of vegetables in Assam are not located on List of plants used in South Asian cuisine. But List of vegetables in Assam is not referenced at all, so it might not pass the notability test.174.3.125.23 (talk) 06:33, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
