Why is this the most watched page on Wikipedia?

edit

According to WikiMedia data, this is the most watched page on Wikipedia. But it's hardly been edited 100 times. What's this about? 75.4.18.242 (talk) 00:02, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

That is odd. It's on my watchlist, but at least I have the excuse that I've edited it. The article only gets around 20-30 hits a day, with no obvious peaks around the infrequent edits, so if there really are that many watchers, it seems only around 1% actually view any changes. I suspect the number of watchers is wrong. --Avenue (talk) 00:22, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Richard_Evans_(British_author) is also on the most watched list - that is because it got accidently merged with Wikipedia talk:Introduction at some point, and some watchers of that got linked to the article by mistake. A similar thing might have happened here. Of course, some people may add it to their watch list now simply because others are watching it! You know, like people piling on to an eBay item once others start bidding for it. SilkTork *YES! 23:18, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
At this point this is on the verge of becoming an inside joke—you know, the little island that could. ResMar 02:49, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Maybe we should start a petition to have the next Wikimania held there. Herostratus (talk) 15:44, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
@Herostratus: This is amazing—I just independently ended up at this page again and, whoa.
It's just as impressive today was it was then. ResMar 07:03, 4 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
I, uh, just realized I might have just mildly annoyed a lot of old-timers. Sorry fellows, couldn't contain the excitement. ResMar 07:04, 4 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
No ones allowed there without DOC permission I don't think so maybe Wikimania should be held at neighboring Great Barrier Island instead! Thomas Norren (talk) 04:58, 16 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not really a stub

edit

It provides just a little more than the bare basic information in order for this to be a stub. This should be Start-Class and the stub template on the article page removed. –MuZemike 07:01, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Done. --Avenue (talk) 10:20, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

New changes - minor

edit

Is this page the subject of any controversy? It came up on the Community Portal for improvement, so I tinkered with it a bit. deb (talk) 04:57, 15 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
