1972 Mk2 Stock - is it true how it was ordered?

According to Tubeprune, the government decreed that the London Transport Executive order the 33 trains of 1972 Mk2 Stock just to keep Metro-Cammell in business, and make the excuse that these trains would eventually be used on what became the Jubilee line.

Is this true? There don't appear to be any other sources that back this up... Bluebird207 (talk) 01:20, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Running On Bakerloo Line

2024 Stock Replaces 1972 Stock
