Kashgar Yingtan train got shortened
editHi, I noticed in the top 50 section, #6 no longer exist.
6 Kashgar (China) Yingtan (China) 5166 72 h 39 min (3 days +)
This train's number is K1661/K1662/K1663/K1664. Earlier this year, the train end point changed from Yingtan to Baoji. This significantly shortens the journey. At the moment, I don't have the time to shift the entire table by one row. If anybody want to do it that would be great.

According to Chinese wikipedia, this train stopped its service at 12/28/2017, so the train can be removed from this table.Chenrui Shao (talk) 13:07, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Overhaul of European trains
editHi,
I reorganized the European trains a lot. Firstly, I groupped all cross-border services to a common paragraph. Then I removed discontinued CNL services (the ones to/from Copenhagen and the Amsterdam to Moscow service) using the CNL network maps found here. I also removed the Vindobona, which has been discontinued, too. Now the longest daytime service seems to be the Hamburg to Budapest. If you have any information about the opposite being true, please write here. Next, the Turin to Palermo service is nowhere to be found, if it ever existed. The only one I found is to Reggio Calabria. And someone should update the journey lengths prefixed with "approx", since I don't know the exact distances. Those approximations are only road distance from Google Maps. :) THX Johnnyjanko (talk) 20:30, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
- The train 414/415 between Zurich and Belgrade (it has the number EN414/EN415 Zurich-Zagreb) should be pretty high on the European list, if it is considered a continuous train service. As far as I know, no carriages go all the way from Zurich to Belgrade, but there are train cars Zurich-Zagreb and Ljubljana-Belgrade, so it is the same train that gets cars added and removed along the way (this almost becomes a philosophical question...). It takes almost 23 hours. Jolindbe (talk) 14:17, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
Hellow I think 007Рfrom Alma-ata, KZ to Moscow should be in tha list http://www.tutu.ru/poezda/view_d.php?np=cf62771f — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.87.129.190 (talk) 19:40, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
Almaty2-Moscow Train
editI think Kazakhstan/Russian rail № 007 should be in the list. Th distance is 4011km and it takes 79h17m/78h41m. http://www.tutu.ru/poezda/view_d.php?np=cf62771f — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.87.129.190 (talk) 11:26, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

List is very incomplete for Russia
editThe main list is very, very incomplete for Russia. Here are some examples of trains that are over 48 hours long, (there are many, many over 24h). Here is a random sampling. One needs to get a full Russian timetable to make any credible effort of making a complete list. The Kislovodsk-Tynda train would be #3 on the list and the longest with more than 1/week frequency.
- Route 014Н Sankt-Peterburg → Novosibirsk (2 d 16 h 46 m)
- Route 064Б Minsk → Novosibirsk (4046 km 2 d 15 h 11 m)
- Route 369Н Novosibirsk → Tashkent (2657 km 2 d 14 h 33 m)
- Route 076Э Moskva → Severobaikalsk (5 d 4 h 12 m)
- Route 285А Murmansk → Novorossiysk (3688 km 2 d 20 h 55 m)
- Route 268С Novorossiysk → Novosibirsk (3197 km 2 d 13 h 28 m)
- Route 076Э Moskva → Neryungri Pass. (5 d 4 h 12 m)
- Route 070Ч Moskva → Chita-2 (4 d 9 h 40 m)
- Route 097С Kislovodsk → Tynda (8054km 6 d 5 h 44 m) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.109.115.129 (talk) 22:00, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
Lhasa trains should not be listed
editGenerally, the long trains to Lhasa require a change in Xining. There is one train number for these services, but as the list is meant to exclude trips that require changing rail cars, these should not be listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.109.115.129 (talk) 22:10, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
Train from Zhengzhou to Hamburg
editI came to know about a freight train line from Zhengzhou to Hamburg recently. The train travels around 10,000 kms from Zhengzhou to Hamburg and has recently become rather popular.

future and historical train services
edithi! I propose also to include hier planned OR proposed train services. I ALSO propose to include historically longest train services, that existed in past. --90.133.30.224 (talk) 18:37, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
proposal for this article
edithi! I had read article about the longest flights. My proposlal for this article is that article begins with history section. History section starts with first train service with distance 3500 km, then continue until the moscow pyongyang service, which currently is longest train service in world. The next section will be future services with three subsections, scheduled services, announced not yet scheduled services and proposed services. In the next section, currently planned top 50 services. In the next section discotinued services, top 10 longest train services will be listed which are discontinued. All future train services will be listed will have distance at least 3500 km. --90.131.148.218 (talk) 18:22, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
#5: Train service between Moscow and Neryungri, but no train service between Moscow and Tommot, as of Oct 6, 2020
editThe 5th longest service is different now, and we should replace the service between Moscow and Tommot with service between Moscow and Neryungri (spelled as Neriungri by the Russian Railways). The route is only slightly shorter.
The referenced source is misleading. See There are no trains connecting these two stations. note at the same website. And currently the same website shows different train having the same train number. Unfortunately, the source is not that reliable, as the Russian Railways today assigns the train to Neryungri a different train number. 109.252.36.51 (talk) 06:51, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
Should the new Flixtrain services count as a non-stop train service?
editHi @Slasher-fun, I'm interested to see if you have any proof that the two new Flixtrain services you added to the article a few days ago actually count as non-stop services? FlyingScotsman72 (talk) 04:00, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @FlyingScotsman72! Sure, they're published as such in MERITS database: here (actual links to the timetable page expire after a few hours) :) Slasher-fun (talk) 18:51, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- oh wow.... just done a little more digging and damn,,, WEIRD is an understatement haha! Thank you for this great (and curious) addition! FlyingScotsman72 (talk) 01:13, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- I realize that the links I gave now point to completely different trains, I replaced them by a link to images of the timetable. Slasher-fun (talk) 12:21, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
