WikiProject Law Enforcement banner removed

edit

@Maile66: I removed the WikiProject Law Enforcement banner because the scope of that project excludes the crimes and criminal organizations that law enforcement agencies might investigate as part of their work. The article also makes no mention of how any law enforcement agencies are involved in this group, so it is difficult to assess if that WikiProject is even relevant. This also applies to the FBI task force attributes, which I have also removed, as I think that is also over-bannering since the significance of any association is not mentioned in the article. If you think I am wrong, please explain your reasons for including the banner(s) before adding them back. Please also read the guidelines WP:PROJSCOPE and WP:OVERBANNER. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 22:38, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

You did the correct thing, thanks for telling me. When I do Special:NewPages patrol. I try to make sure there is some project banner listed on the talk page, just to alert any project it might apply to. Sometimes, it's guess work what project would be appropriate. So, thanks for the message, but there's no problem with your removing it. — Maile (talk) 22:55, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Sometimes it can be hard to tell which WikiProjects are relevant. Often the scope of them is rather broad and overlapping. However, in the case of Law enforcement, the WikiProject is quite clear about what to include and exclude, which is not always the case with other WikiProjects, and one needs to ask for clarification, which can take ages for an answer. Sometimes it is necessary just to add the WikiProject banners and see what happens. Keep up the good work patrolling new pages. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:31, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
