Tajamul Ali Mazumdar
editTajamul Ali Mazumdar was born in Rangirghat village, at Sonai sub-division in Cachar District of Assam. His father Maddassir Ali Mazumdar (Ranga) was distinguished Jury member of the court at Silchar and Panchayat member for numerous years. Tajamul Ali was the youngest son and youngest child among eight siblings. He founded the Madhab Chandra Das College at Sonai in 1972. He retired as the founder-Principal of the same college in 2008. He also founded an English school named Holy Light Englsih School at Sonai. He also donated his own land for building a Bengali medium school named Gulezar Ali School, at Sonai. He has built many more schools and has guided and helped in the making of many more schools at Sonai. He is at present the most influential educationist from Sonai. He also contested for MLA from Sonai as independent candidate and later as Congress candidate too. He was President of Sonai Block Congress for a term too. He is deep Congressman.
