Correct name
editI understand that there are two different possible versions of this name. While I understand Luckydhaliwal's point that the government website uses Kora, as far as I can see, every news story uses Koda. Why? What is going on here? How can every single newspaper be wrong? Is it not possible that the government website is wrong? Or is it that there are multiple different ways to spell his name? We need to figure out what is happening with the multiple names. Per standard Wikipedia practice, while we attempt to make that determination, the article needs to stay at the old name. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:51, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- This sheds some light on the issue: [1]. It says that the name is Koda, but is pronounced Kora. As a general rule we need to stay with the name used in most sources. Is there, perhaps, any evidence that he officially changed his name to Kora? Qwyrxian (talk) 11:54, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- The truth is that the letter ड़ doesn't correspond exactly to neither 'r' nor 'd'. It is a sound not used in English, try putting your tongue way back and do a rolling 'lll-rrr-aaa' sound. It is often transcribed as 'd', since the Devanagari letter is based on the letter ड (which is closer to 'd'). For me, having the article at Madhu Koda is fine with a redirect from Madhu Kora. --Soman (talk) 17:14, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

- True, but we use what reliable sources use...and it appears that all of the newspapers in India, who, I'm sure, are well aware the pronunciation issues, have chosen to use the 'd' as a transliteration. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:50, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
