How old is the story of Ma Liang?
editMany retellings of the story of Ma Liang's magic brush claim this is an old folktale, but this article seems to imply otherwise. Was the story composed for the film - i.e. the story of Ma Liang and his magic paintbrush is no older than 1954?
Is this a situation similar to people assuming that Hans Christian Andersen stories like "The Emperor's New Clothes" and "The Little Mermaid" are old folktales when in fact we know exactly when they were first composed and by whom? --Corsican Warrah (talk to me) 08:31, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
