Extinct Birds Forgive me, I'm not familiar with the Wiki project's guidelines for contributing on talk pages; anyways, at the bottom of the article there is a link to the article for 'List of Extinct Birds'. Birds are mentioned nowhere else in the article. Was there once a bird species native to Mangareva Island that has gone extinct? I think that's too important a piece of the islands history to be left so ambiguous in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.192.91.192 (talk) 15:34, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

- The item in the references, http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/binary-math-was-used-polynesians-300-years-earlier-europeans, which should probably be reformatted, is the basis for these paragraphs. It is kind of sensationalistic, and as an editor here noticed, has an error in the binary expansion of 720. It might be better to rewrite this section using the original source, in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2013/12/12/1309160110 . 192.4.0.12 (talk) 21:56, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Annexation dates
editThere seems to be a lot of French sources claiming the date of annexation (i.e. when the request written by the chiefs were approved byHenri Isidore Chessé) as "23 février" while other say it was "21 février" 1881.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 05:33, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
Area in square miles?
editThe area conversion of 15.4 square kilometers to square miles needs to be repaired. 5 15/16 doesn’t make sense. Preferred would be 5.9, 5.95 or 6 square miles, or if a fraction is really necessary, 5 35/37 would be a much closer conversion, though that looks almost equally ridiculous.
