"Independent" is not a political party, but rather denotes the absence of such. I'm only saying anything instead of fixing it myself because this exact POV has shown up within infoboxes so often as of late, I would believe it to be deliberate, perhaps assuming that our audience is too stupid to understand the difference. {{Infobox officeholder}} and derivatives contains |otherparty=, which I would assume is supposed to be used for such a purpose, but often isn't.
