References and Sources

edit

The article does contain some references and sources, but we would all be happy if more were found and added.Jahbulon-13 (talk) 15:17, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Correction; as of now it includes inline external links, which is almost the same but not really. References and sources should be formatted according to WP:REF, which makes it easy to see at a glance - without having to leave the Wikipedia article - where the information is sourced from. Please also keep in mind WP:RS when citing :) WegianWarrior (talk) 15:25, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jahbulon-13, what you need to find are a few reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see our WP:Notability guideline for more on this)... sources that talk about the subject (Martin Short). For example, it would be good to cite some reviews of his work.
Be aware that there are a lot of policies and guidelines that govern article content... these policies and guidelines impact both what we may or may not say in an article, and (perhaps more importantly) how we should say it. The truth is, all these policies and guidelines can be be a bit overwhelming for a relatively new editor. Don't panic... just take it slowly, and spend some time reviewing them. And, if someone reverts, or tags an edit you make ... don't take it personally (reverts and tags are a normal part of the editorial process on WP and are not meant personally). If you don't know why something you added was reverted or tagged, go to the talk page and ask for further clarification. Discuss the situation, and then work with the other editors to resolve their concerns. Blueboar (talk) 15:53, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK... first let me state for the record that I think Marin Short probably is notable enough to merit having a stand alone article (per WP:AUTHOR). However, we need to cite some reliable sources to establish that notability. I have added three {{citation needed}} tags to statements that include a claim of notability... those are a good place to start. Let's try to find sources to support these statements. Dear Blueboar and WegianWarrior

We seem to be making some progress, what do you make of: His findings are universally (or almost universally) rejected by adherents of Freemasonry?

I cannot find a picture of Short, available for use or any other kind. We do not even know if Short is alive (for the sake of litigation, that is a reasonable assumption).

Given that, I'd like to include an image of some kind, but have trouble with the front cover of his book about Freemasonry: can anyone help me get around this? I have e-mailed Harper-Collins asking for permission, which doubtless should have been done when I started . . ..

Sometimes it looks to me like you American Freemasons are not as unreasonable as I've come to expect. Jahbulon-13 (talk) 12:15, 21 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
