In an attempt to counteract the influx of BLP-violating edits, I have created an editnotice that will appear when people edit the page. I have set it to expire in 24 hours, under the assumption that we'll have a clear answer by then. Since things are moving quickly, I have placed the editnotice's contents at Talk:Martine Moïse/editnotice, meaning that you don't need to be a template editor/extendemover/sysop to edit it. Feel free to update it as facts become more (or less) clear, including blanking it if it becomes unnecessary. @Tamzin: I've found several articles in Italian and French media who state that Mme Moïse also died because of her injuries. However, I have not found confirmation of this in British/US media. What shall I do? -Karma1998 (talk) 15:09, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Karma1998: What are the sources? While there isn't (to my knowledge) an explicit policy on this, I would say:
If there's one reliable source saying she's dead, keep things present-tense, no death date, etc., but prominently note "$source has reported that she died"
If there's more than one, then flip the tense, death date, etc., with WP:INTEXT attribution to the claim
No matter what, we shouldn't say unqualified that she's died until the Haitian government confirms that.
@Tamzin: now that you mention it, I've realized only Italian media speak of her death; French media are actually silent, despite what I previously understood.
Also, I've found an article on Dominican newspaper Diario Libre, which states that she survived. I will not edit the page until clear information arrives. -Karma1998 (talk) 15:19, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
