Vandalism

edit

Someone added Chuck Norris and Steven Segal to the playable characters. While this is funny it's still vandalism, these were the only two I saw and I don't know if someone possibly messed up the page more so I'll let someone like an admin or whoever to report this. Additions

edit

Unfortunately, the standard of the article is degraded by the blow by blow plot additions. All that is needed is the gist. Also, some of those links helped and the working title info can go in the Development section. Asgardian (talk) 02:24, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Take a look at VG Good Articles such as Deus Ex, F.E.A.R., Ninja Gaiden (2004 video game), Ratchet & Clank, Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force, and many others. Each has a fleshed out plot section. The current plot here is to long, yes -- but rather than just axing it at least attempt to shorten and copy edit it. Several of us are working very hard to get this article rated B-Class, and eventually GA-Class, and each time you make extremely radical changes without discussion it makes it harder. We appreciate your help, but please follow Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games and take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Good articles for reference. The layout and needs of VG articles are quite different than comic articles. --Teancum (talk) 02:25, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have seen that and noted the attempts to stave off the fanboy additions which seem to come thick and fast. On looking at the Guidelines, some tell-tale points arise, such as : Plot: if the plot is not too complex, it can be lumped in with the gameplay; otherwise, put it in its own section. If necessary, the section should have subheadings for the story's setting, characters, and story. Avoid trivial details.

I think you fine folk mean well, but may need some help with the summaries and the grammar. The technical stuff I leave to you as I'm in the dark about this. I will present a revised version with more details and links, but less "and then they..." At a glance many other game articles could also do with a clean up. Anyway, have a look when posted. Asgardian (talk) 02:39, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

That I can definitely agree with. I don't think the plot is short enough/simple enough to simply lump it in or summarize it in two short paragraphs, but I definitely agree that it's far to long as-is. I had hoped to take an old version of the plot (which I rescued from an old edit) and chip it down until it covered what only was needed without losing anything. But if you're volunteering to do a rewrite/copy edit of it, I'd greatly appreciate that. I don't like the current length at all. And finally someone agrees with me on getting rid of plots that are simply "and then they..." situations. I can't stand that, almost as much as I get bothered by the phrase "it is revealed". Thanks again. --Teancum (talk) 11:23, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I may be an ANON, but I know this game well. I know the article is rather long but shouldn't the ending "Destiny" thing be included? Like in Mephisto's realm, if you save Jean Grey, Nightcrawler's mom "talks out" her anger about her son's death. The next day, Xavier is found in a coma and later dies, and the X-Men disband forever, but if you Save Nightcrawler, Jean lives and returns as the Dark Phoenix, who seeks revenge for those who did not save her. Kind of a big part in the game, I think. So why not add it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.137.117.218 (talk) 01:36, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

There's just too much to cover. There are around a dozen different choices that affect the post-cutscene ending. To lay those out would just be too complex. We could, however, mention that the player is shown various cutscenes based on the consequences of their choices throughout the game. --Teancum (talk) 01:50, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

PLAYABLE CHARACTERS EXCLUSIVE FOR XBOX 360?

edit

I HAD NOTICED THAT NO ONE WAS SPECIFIED IF THE CHARACTERS EXCLUSIVE FOR XBOX 360, WERE THE ONLY GOLD EDICTION OR THE STANDARD VERSION. SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS VICTOR CREED ALIAS SABREETOOTH, HULK, VENOM AND THE DOCTOR DOOM IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR GOLD VERSION OF THE GAME XBOX 360, OR EVEN IN THE STANDARD VERSION OF THE GAME, FOR XBOX 360 ?, E 2 OR ALL VERSIONS ???. SCARICABIL IN ANY WAY ???. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.51.19.11 (talk) 19:29, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Playable Characters

edit

Colossus and Moon Knight are playable in the PS2 version. Though only in the Crimson Dynamo comic mission and only by blanking out your party before you start said mission, hitting triangle and then reselecting the mission. Shouldn't they be listed as playable on PS2 then? Yeah, it's kind of a glitch and it's a random one but they are still technically playable on that platform. 76.181.246.164 (talk) 20:36, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nope, it's only via a glitch, and isn't consistent in being able to get them, like you said. --Teancum (talk) 21:40, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

B-class Assessment

edit

1) The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations where necessary.

  •  C Mostly Pass, plot section has no references although this is easily fixed by someone in the know, PlayStation Portable section needs references to support the differences.

2) The article reasonably covers the topic, and does not contain obvious omissions or inaccuracies.

  •  Y Pass, no obvious omissions.

3) The article has a defined structure.

  •  Y Pass, good lead section, covers the areas of interest in a logical fashion.

4) The article is reasonably well-written.

  •  Y Pass, although for higher tier ratings the plot section may need trimming. (I'm no GA expert though.)

5) The article contains supporting materials where appropriate.

  •  Y Pass, character list is well presented, good use of images.

6) The article presents its content in an appropriately accessible way.

  •  Y Pass, same concern on possibly lengthy plot section as for item 4 however.

Hope this assessment helps, feel free to poke me on my talk page with comments and questions. --Taelus (talk) 18:11, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yup, looks fine now after the recent changes post-review. Promoting to B-class. --Taelus (talk) 00:26, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Subplot

edit

I really think they should include something about the subplot with Black Widow and Weasel. Not a blow by blow as mentioned above, but perhaps a mention of it and how you have to go around and ask certain people for information to give to Weasel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.230.96.17 (talk) 13:10, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

List of characters

edit

Hi Cyberlink420, please see WP:VGSCOPE No. 6. A list of characters appearing in-game without any substantial information is not necessary. For the general reader, not familiar with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, let alone its characters, there's no benefit in seeing that Luke Cage and Moon Knight appear in the game. It would make more sense to have a short description on how certain characters differ from each other. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 18:47, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

On its own, no, but the list also serves to highlight the differences between the various ports and versions of the game. I'd argue that sort of information is helpful to a casual reader. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:13, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Xbox One and PS4 Version

edit

While the cited url: https://kotaku.com/marvel-ultimate-alliance-coming-to-playstation-4-xbox-1784192280 - says its coming - I've looked high and low and it doesn't appear to exist as a real product. Might be an interesting story about what happened to that, but I can't find any info about it. The Xbox 360 version isn't licensed for the Xbox One either.

Anyhow that section probably needs revision and the Xbox One and PS4 release in the info box probably needs to be dropped.

It's possible it got culled in the MS app store and PS store, but there's no physical releases as well.
