Country of birth
editThere seems to be a dispute as to what country Marwan was born? Was it Egypt or Palestine? WadeSimMiser (talk) 22:18, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- According to SCR, it was Palestine though the article said "Israel" (I suspect a political motive here).GordyB (talk) 14:47, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's a real country you know...... 180.150.80.145 (talk) 10:54, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
Country of birth (continued)
editThe following is copied from User talk:58.7.65.162:
- He was born in ISRAEL ffs! Stop changing it! (unsigned comment by IP at 04:30, 26 February 2015)
- I note you are referring to the article on Marwan Koukash. The two references listed in that sentence both state that he was born in Palestine. One of them is a direct Q&A interview with the subject.
- Do you have any sources which state he was born in Israel? AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:53, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, Palestine is not a sovereign nation and the land is Israel. Check that with the UN! (unsigned comment by IP at 21:10, 26 February 2015)
- Why are you changing this one article only? Palestine has a national soccer team, and most of the current players listed there are described as being born in Palestine. Anyway, I'm not going to waste my time with this any further, so I am going to refer it for a second opinion. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:57, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Palestine didn't exist as a nation in 1958 but Israel did. That's the difference. Wasn't hard for me to find that info.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.148.90.238 (talk) 08:00, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
I've just discovered Wikipedia:ARBPIA, which means this dispute may be an issue viewed seriously by the Wikipedia community. I will post a message concerning this at the BLP noticeboard. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:40, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
