@Patapsco913, it's identical insofar as the reason it was previously deleted at AfD still stand. That is Mboka's only claim to notability is that they were a mayor of a town of 78,000 people. If the same people who voted at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mboka_Mwilambwe reviewed this article at the same time they reviewed the article they voted on they would have written similar things and voted to delete this. Being a mayor of 78,000 people isn't enough to satisfy WP:GNG. If Mboka has done something since being mayor that you think might make them notable enough to meet WP:GNG, please improve the article now prior to it being deleted. I don't see any guideline that requires a minimum size for a city for one of its mayors to be notable. Anyhow, if I look at the wayback machine, the page that seems to have been deleted was two sentences and he was still mayor-elect so a deletion was warranted.Patapsco913 (talk) 11:31, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I suggest your best guide is to read the previous deletion discussion. Also have they done anything of note since they ceased being mayor? Your recent edits are all focused on what they did during their time as mayor. TarnishedPathtalk12:12, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
No. I don't know him at all. I am working to build out biographies of African Americans and women who tend to be underrepresented on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:WikiProject African diaspora and Wikipedia:Women in Red). African diaspora is less active so I tend to focus my efforts there. Mwilambwe is interesting since he is the first Black mayor of a mostly white town in the heart of the Midwest (and probably the first Congolese origin mayor in the USA). Bloomington is the county seat and the largest city in a metropolitan area of ~200,000. Patapsco913 (talk) 13:01, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I admire what you're doing in general but I think there's probably more notable people you could be focusing on. Mayors of small towns generally aren't it, unless there is something that they've done that small town mayors usually don't do. TarnishedPathtalk13:14, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have no connection to any of the original discussions so I removed the speedy deletion tag. I see plenty of independent sources which indicate that the subject likely passes WP:GNG.--User:Namiba14:17, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
