James McCarthy, a prospector, drowned in one of the rivers near by and the founder of the town, John Barrett, name the town after him. Originally it was called Shushanna Junction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Flywma (talk • contribs) 04:30, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

editThe statement that the Discovery show "examines ... the town's struggling economy" is true only from Neil Darish's perspective. The other residents find that the economy is doing very well, thank you very much. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 20:53, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
