Birthname

edit

First: This putting the Japanese characters in as "birthname" is simply wrong. The name is the name whether it's written in Roman, kanji, devanagari or chicken-scratches. It's enough to have the native script in the article after the first, bold mention of the name. Second: and this is the important one-- I've never seen that Meiko Kaji is her birthname. It's quite common for performers to take stage names, and Kaji used another earlier in her career. Stating that "Meiko Kaji"-- no matter the script used-- is her birthname needs a citation to a reliable source Dekkappai (talk) 19:06, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I placed the Kanji under alias instead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.162.70.81 (talk) 19:24, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
The name in the native script is not an "alias"-- it's the same name, just written differently. Also, you restored the unverified "Birthname" edit, so I'll revert. Could you please explain your concern? I see nothing here but trivial stylistic changes, which is not recommended unless you're doing significant work to an article. Her name in Japanese script is given in the article twice. Once should be enough, twice is more than enough, so I don't see why you think we need it three, four times? The article is in English, after all... Dekkappai (talk) 19:28, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't matter it's still another name for the subject and is best suited beside (other names). Onle 1 name should go at the top. What the point of putting The same names twice in the same spot. Doesn't Meiko Kaji mean 梶 芽衣子? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.48.170.215 (talk) 21:25, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
You say it above: 梶 芽衣子 is Meiko Kaji. It's the same name. How can one's "alias" be the same name? On the other hand, the name that you removed actually is another name under which she performed. I've restored it. Dekkappai (talk) 21:33, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay what if it's 梶 芽衣子 (Kaji Meiko) in the othername space? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.97.148.195 (talk) 22:21, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Her real name (birth name) is Masako Ota as originally suggested. Reference also added to article. JoshuSasori (talk) 13:15, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

crazy rider '71

edit

This is the title of the film "野良猫ロック 暴走集団'71" given in the article but it's hard to find evidence for that anywhere on the internet. Does anyone have a reference for these film titles as they were actually released abroad? Or are these just arbitrary translations by Wikipedia editors? If so, we should use the romanized Japanese names. JoshuSasori (talk) 08:37, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

In addition, Chris D.'s book calls it "Violent Showdown '71". JoshuSasori (talk) 02:38, 16 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Although I'm going to guess that he just mistook "shudan" for a katakana version of "showdown". JoshuSasori (talk) 03:49, 16 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rooftop interview

edit

The interview http://rooftop.cc/interview/003379.php has some very interesting information. I will add more information to the article from there and change that link from "Further Reading" to a reference later on. JoshuSasori (talk) 11:31, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Complaint about discography on feedback page

edit

There was a complaint about the discography on the feedback page:

It's a bit disorganized, isn't it? JoshuSasori (talk) 01:58, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

songs released on CD the first time because of 'Kill Bill'..? Really?

edit

>>"When these songs were both used in Kill Bill, it led to a revival of interest in her music. Her songs were released on CD for the first time."

Good grief.. surely not right. I have a Kaji Meiko CD I bought in Japan in 1992. 109.57.232.179 (talk) 13:45, 12 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

You are correct. CD versions of her music well predated Kill Bill. I have removed the erroneous line (which in any case contained a broken link as supporting reference) 猫に小判 11:07, 22 January 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 猫に小判 (talkcontribs)
