Lyrics considered racist?

edit

ISTR the original lyrics make the song unplayable now - isn't that worth a mention? Apepper (talk) 09:23, 13 February 2016 (UTC) Not true. You still occasionally hear it on the telly. --89.249.74.188 (talk) 01:43, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

How can a song that is clearly about racial harmony be considered "racist"?

Really? No reference to use of the term "chink"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.18.217.96 (talk) 19:37, 11 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Some of the lyrics do make you wince today, but "chink" wasn't considered a racial slur in British English in 1969. It was a neutral, and even affectionate, term for an ethnically Chinese person living in the UK. There were many terms in use then which were to become completely unacceptable during the next decade. Even "nigger" was considered neutral in Britain as late as the 1950s. --Ef80 (talk) 14:20, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

The disputed line "Curly latin kinkees" DOE'S NOT APPEAR IN BLUE MINKS VERSION it CLEARLY SAYS "CURLY LIKE LATIN KIDS"... IF ANYONES RACIST IT'S THE CLOWNS THAT DON'T RESEARCH THEIR SHIT PROPERLY!

Misleading title

edit

The title should specify that this is a Blue Mink song, because Booker T and MGs have a song of the same name — Preceding unsigned comment added 2A01:E0A:26F:30A0:CC70:79A6:421B:2F39 (talk) 11:21, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
