Format
editThis article seems to be written in the form of a thesis rather than an encyclopedia article. I'd suggest deleting the conclusion and changing the introduction into an overview. Plynch22 (talk) 23:39, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Limited view
editThis article provides a very limited and biased view of the topic. Metabolic network modeling is a much richer topic with a vast literature. The article describes only a very small part of this which is metabolic network reconstruction. Page might need some reoganization
editThe title "metabolic network modeling" suggests the analysis of the network itself rather than its dynamics. This is borne out by the content, which is concerned primarily with reconstructing networks, drafting a construction, refinement of the network, and some limited content on metabolic stoichiometric analysis and then applications. The section on stoichiometric analysis was originally called metabolic network simulation, even though the bulk of that section was on the analysis of stoichiometry, with only a small section on simulation, hence the title change to be more accurate. The question is, where does this leave the dynamic simulation subsection? It's only a short paragraph of 11 lines. I suggest the current page focus exclusively on network analysis, that is the analysis of network structure, including their construction and not dynamics, and have a separate page reserved for dynamics. As someone pointed out 12 years ago on the talk page: "This article provides a very limited and biased view of the topic. Metabolic network modeling is a much richer topic with a vast literature." of course, they were right. If there are no objections after a month or so, I will start a new page on "Metabolic Network Dynamics" unless someone has a better idea. Rhodydog (talk) 21:41, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
