Multiplayer issues?
Shouldn't we mention the wide-scale spread of people on the WiFi who disconnect when losing and altspam, much to the ire of more honest players (for those who don't know, alt-spamming is the act of predominantly using your characters Alt-form as opposed to it's biped form). Whenever I see a discussion about MPH, those two activities are nearly always mentioned. Crimson Shadow 04:47, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- There aren't any official rules against predominant use of alt forms, so I don't think players who predominantly use their bidped form should be referred to as "honest," but I think it could fit in a Criticisms section (in which case the Singleplayer Criticism should be changed to general Criticisms). Cosmos 01:36, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think a bigger problem is hacking and lagging. These should be mentioned. 68.238.180.241 20:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Weapon Icons
Would it be possible to add pictures of each weapon's icon? I think it would help prevent confusion... I, personally, only know what the Magmaul's icon is by heart.
- It would be possible, but I don't see the point in it. That information can be found in the game manual. If you look at the external links section, you can see a .pdf copy of the manual. Problem solved. Crimson Shadow 04:47, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Controls
We should include the thumbstrap as a viable control option. Many gamers feel it is more naturl to use than the stylus. Any opinions on this?
- Why? The thum strap isn't part of the game. If anything, it's more a DS accessory. --Mit kebes
No offence, but if you're going to be picky then the Stylus could be considered an accessory. It's only really necessary for touch games, and even then alternate control methods are accessible ( using the DPad in AC:WW for example). I find it easier to use the D-Pad and ABYX anyway ^^. Skullburn :)
I think it should be noted because gamers who have played other FPSes will be used to using dual analogue which wan be recreated with the thumb strap. Ovavasour 16:22, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Parts related to the demo
I moved a part about the unlockable video in the demo because I felt it would fit better on the demo's entry rather than this one. I also copied a picture from the demo to the demo's page, and changed its caption to avoid spoilers. John Coxon 19:33, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I checked the demo movie that appears after you beat all of the training levels, and mine was distinctly different. In mine, the three armored figures do not appear, and samus herself fires a shot. - RND 12-04-05
Merged
The newly added information has been slimmed down and merged from Metroid Prime: Hunters - First Hunt. There didn't need to be an article on the demo when the one for the actual full game is already stub-status. Most of the information on that page was removed due to it being mostly a walkthrough. Due to the design of the Nintendo DS and the genre of this game I thought it was relevant and interesting to leave the control setups, however, I formatted it to save space (length). Added stuff about the story, and playable characters. Matuva-NAr
transwiki weapons and scoring section too
Cyberskull transwiki'd the controls section over to wikibooks. I've always felt that the weapons and scoring section didn't really belong in the article. I'm going to copy over the scoring section to the wikibook article now, and, if nobody objects, the weapons section in a few days too. --Codemonkey 23:56, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
- On second thought, I have changed my mind. I'd rather have the weapons section stay. Although some of it is still a bit long. This isn't gamefaqs, is it? I'll see about shortening it a bit.--Codemonkey 21:13, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
- The weapons relate to the gameplay, so they should stay. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 04:44, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
True, this isn't GameFAQs, but if someone is willing to donate more information to an article, why object? -- Deltro
Rumble
What is the rumble function all about? --Thorpe | talk 18:14, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
-The rumble pak came with Metroid Prime Pinball, I don't think anyone kows if MP:H will use it, but it seems logical, and it's weak enough to not disrupt touch movements.
I think that it was previously stated that Metroid Prime: Hunters would use the Rumble Pak but that this statement was recently retracted. I'm not totally sure about that, however. (User:Erik4)
MPH is compatible with the rumble pack. KdogDS 02:13, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
The next batch or so of copies supposedly will contain the rumble pak in a bundle. I'm not sure of a price difference though.Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz 11:46, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know about a bundle, but some game stores give out free Rumble Paks when you purchase MPH --Mit kebes
About Weapons
Given that most of the weapons (except the Electro Lob) are given the weapons article, shouldn't the lengthy descriptions be removed?Infinitys 7th
- I agree that this section should be moved to another source, but there should still be a section on the weapons for this game. It could say something about the weapons in Hunters being unique because there is such a wide variety of non-chozodian beam weaponry. I understand that the same could be said for Echoes (which uses Luminoth beam weaponry), but this is the first time Samus is able to use the exact same weapons of her enemies. In this hypothetical section, there should also be something describing how each beam effects the hunters differently. Possibly something should be said about the similarities between the variety of weapons in Hunters and varieties in other FPS's. Just a thought. CDD Sept. 26 2006
New Single Player Information

I figured Ancient Vestige would end up with a different name in this game--one of the reasons I decided to leave it out of the article. Anywho, thanks for the maplist. I merged the descriptions with the Nintendo Power list, for redundancy purposes. --Spire 00:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I was going to, but I decided that It'd be lazier to not. Deltro 1:23 CST, March 19, 2006
Makes sense, I guess. *rolls eyes* Game released today...woot! IGN got some new footage. The cinematics look amazing. I'm pumped for Hunters. Too bad I didn't reserve. :P Wonder if it's gonna be sold out for months like Animal Crossing was? It's not a holiday season right now, though...who knows.

Does anyone want to make it? I'm feeling a little nonjournalistic today...
GameSpy Review
The GameSpy review was listed as 4.5 out of TEN, but GameSpy has a 5-Star system. I have linked the review and edited the listing from 4.5/10 to 4.5/5. Emerald 04:57, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Huge Revision
Hope everyone likes it. Still to do: Give the new characters their own pages and add them to the Metroid Series info box.Phil Bond 09:29, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
-But do we know enough about each hunter to give them a good page? I think we should wait for more info, that is, if nintendo plans to release it.Mit kebes
- Ironically, earlier today, I was thinking about how nice it would be to have articles on the new characters in MPH. My answer is "yes": I believe that enough official information on them exists to create individual articles. Using the official artwork on their articles would make them even better. For when (and if) these articles do get created, here are some "links" that lead to them: (feel free to edit this list for exactness; for example, Trace currently takes you to a disambiguation page. Maybe something like "Trace (Nintendo)" is good.

Brochure
Do we really need a section about the Brochure? Jedi6-(need help?) 06:56, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
No way. I deleted it in my revision on sunday, but someone combed through the history and recovered it. If we were going to catalog printed promotional materials, we'd end up synopsizing everything Nintendo does to promote the game, from magazine articles to TV ads to junk snail mail. Phil Bond 16:12, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I think the brochure might be put as 'Cool Trivia' or something like that. KdogDS
It's not trivia. It has no extraordinary relevance. It's one among many pieces of trash. Stop resurrecting it. Phil Bond 02:58, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
All the pictures of the bounty hunters on this page came from the brochure. KdogDS 22:15, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

FPS vs. FPA
Someone replaced every mention of "First Person Adventure" with "First Person Shooter" because of something they read on IGN. IGN has clout in terms of their access to raw information, but their observations are frequently incorrect, and in this case we should defer to Nintendo's declared intent. If anyone want to ask on my talk page, I could regale you with crazy things I've read on IGN. Phil Bond 04:16, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sir, it is a First Person Shooter. It looks like one, it plays like one. Nuff said. Renegadeviking
- It is an FPS, but that's not enough said. Both points of view should be, and are now covered. This should be a resolved issue.Phil Bond 02:42, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nintendo has constantly stated that the Metroid Prime series is a First Person Adventure, I think we should take their word over our opinion. The subsection is nice, but unnessicary as MP:H has been confirmed by the makers to be a FPA. Emerald
- I agree, but the issue is only going to keep popping up unless there's something to pre-empt it. Phil Bond 06:48, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- On second thought, it's not really a subject suited to this specific page, but rather to the Metroid series in general. I'd like to re-remove all mention of the term "First-Person Shooter," but I'd like to hear a couple more people agree first. That, or I'll at least shorten it and put it back within the overview main paragraph. Phil Bond 12:38, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Renegadeviking views Hunters as a FPS because of the way you interface with the world: the players eyes, and controls respective to the camera. Phil Bond thinks Hunters is a FPA because of the intuitive nature of the area, containing puzzels. WFC Problems
Something needs to be said about the initial (and still going) problems with WFC matches. Deltro 23:32, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- Someone's added a good note on this, and I'd contribute, but my WiFi experience is very limited. What I've noticed is that the Nintendo web page that's supposed to display all manner of player stats has numerous shakey or completely non-functional areas. Can anyone detail the curent status of these problems? Phil Bond 12:42, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- Varios error codes can appear while you are searching for a game(eg. The Dreaded 87001, and others that usualy start with 8). The occurence of these has dropped some but is not yet gone. Because of this it seems like Nintendo may be working on the problem.Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz 03:27, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
The error code system seems kinda weak, as you get given an error code, however when put into the nintendo error code troubleshoot, it says there are no error codes beginning with 8 or 9. Skullburn
First Hunt movie
Platypus222 claimed that the alternate version of this hidden movie, the version without other hunters in it, was the first released version, rationalizing that back then, those characters hadn't been created yet, and the web page wasn't online. My copy is from the original release date, and it contains the three other characters and the URL. It's my belief that the rivals were removed from later runs because none of them were actual characters from the release version of the game. The URL is harder to figure, but perhaps it was removed because it wasn't ready for public viewing until just a few months ago. I checked it when First Hunt was new, and it was just a placeholder page with a logo and the words "Coming soon." Phil Bond 21:16, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize. I could have sworn that my game had Samus shooting the shot. I even seemed to remember the scene. However, when I just now checked my game, it had the three figures and the website. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. -Platypus Man | Talk 17:26, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

First Hunt Enemy Confusion
The section that lists the enemies seen in First Hunt is right about there being metroids. However, the spiny wall-crawling enemies are zoomers and the weak metroid-like creatures that require two powerbeam shots to kill are called Xenomorphs. I've corrected this error but if this information is proven wrong feel free to change it back. --Padron (April 15, 2006)
In fact, there are Metroids. If you play both regulator and survival you will fight Metroids.
- That's what the man just said. Phil Bond 15:25, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Also, I just did a little checking on mochtroids. Seen only in Super Metroid, I don't know how anyone would mistake the "xenomorphs" for them. Mochtroids much more closely resemble traditional metroids, the difference being that mochtroids have two fewer nuclei, and are smaller and weaker. "Xenomorphs" do not behave similarly, being completely aimless; and they bear a closer physical resemblance to the slender "hunter metroids" of Tallon IV. Phil Bond 16:09, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- I think that the "xenomorphs" were changed into "Petrasyls" in the final version of the game and are not mochtroids. However, they were called xenomorphs in First Hunt.--Zxcvbnm 16:17, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- I completely agree. Phil Bond 16:42, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Quadtroids and Metroids
You know what I find interesting, but don't know where it could go in the article? The Quadtroid is an obvious artifact of the programmers having coded the Metroid attack move for the demo, then not having a place for them in the final game story. If there's anything game developers hate, it's throwing away good programming: so they came up with a new model, and gave it the zoomer idle pattern plus the Metroid attack algorithm. I think it's cool, but I just don't see how to work it into the page. Maybe because it's speculation. Phil Bond 17:05, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- IMO it would have been better to include the original Metroids instead of introducing a completely new Metroid with an unknown origin, making things confused.--Zxcvbnm 17:13, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Of course, but the Metroid had no place in the story and setting of the Alimbics. I would have liked to see a connection between Gorea and Metroids, but the developers didn't want one. The Quadtroid doesn't even have a stated relationship, just a resemblance. Phil Bond 18:51, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Tying thread through the Prime series?
Here's an interesting story note: all of the Metroid Prime games (and none of the other Metroid games) involve a cataclysmic, civilization-ending event that arrived with an otherwise sustainable meteor impact. Coincidence? lazy writing? or part of a master plan for the Prime series? Is it likely that Metroid Prime 3 will reveal and confront a shared source for all of these world-killing meteors? Phil Bond 18:51, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I have noticed that. We shouldn't add it just yet, as this could just be a recurring theme. However, I bet that there is some all-powerful enemy in MP3 who is responisble for all these meteors... ShadowUltra 20:11, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe the... Metroid... Prime? CDD 21:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes but also the Krikens in Triskelion form look like ing. Maybe the Dark World from MP2 (Tallon?) version of Kriken is Ing.Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz 21:57, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- The game clearly states that Triskelion was made by military technology, so I doubt that it would be "organic" like the Ing.--Zxcvbnm 22:04, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Possible plot hiccup? I noticed a scan entry this afternoon that mentions the planet Aether, whatever creature I was scanning had originated there I think, this possibly incorrect chronologically, or perhaps either the Chozo or the race from this game were already familar with the Luminol (sp?) of MP2:Echoes? J-Kama-Ka-C 22:39, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- I noticed that as well, it said that they harvested War Wasps there with a 50 something % casualty rate, but assuming it just got out of a war, their industry would be dead, and the Luminoth are too smart to harvest War Wasps.......it's possibly an Easter Egg......--Zxcvbnm 02:40, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
New Trivia?
This is the first Metroid game without Metroids. No, those weak little Quadtroids don't count. Should we add this? ShadowUltra 20:12, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'll be including that soon in a new trivia section near the bottom, along with the two most recent topics above. A few existing things from around the article will be moving there as well. Phil Bond 12:18, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- Here's something else: MPH is the first Metroid game to take place on more than one planet. ShadowUltra 20:31, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Name Correction
There is no colon in the game's title. Nowhere on Nintendo's site and the game manual is it referred to as "Metroid Prime: Hunters," with a colon.
Nintendo's page on the game. [1] Cosmos 20:54, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- It's common writing practice for colons to imply the main title/subtitle relationship in un-numbered sequels. Nowhere in the Zelda series, Star Trek series, or Lord of The Rings series is anything titled using a colon, but in the absence of a stylish logo, colons are needed to illustrate phrase separation. Phil Bond 16:04, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nintendo uses colons with the Zelda games, same thing with whoever owns LOTR. However, this title does NOT have a colon in it's title. TJ Spyke 19:57, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you! So, shall we change it? --Gaming King 21:05, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- i'm pretty sure "hunters" is a subtitle. they wouldn't have it below the "metroid prime" thing with it's own glow and stuff for nothing. and besides, "metroid prime hunters" implies that the hunters are hunting metroid prime, which makes no sense, as they're "hunting" the octoliths. lastly, this game is all about the inclusion of new hunters and the sense of competition, anyway. "hunters" is definatly a subtitle. believe me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.218.92.64 (talk • contribs).

Name Glitch
As you may know if you put a % in your name crazy stuff happens. WARNING you can try this but DO NOT put a n,s,or a Japanese symbol after a %, if you do that there is a fair chance your game will freeze or be corrupted permenently. Well the % does something to the games code(adds a line I think) and can reportedly chang settings, and in a cool thing make your name blank(The name is "%c" caps sensitive, this is safe and cool). You cant go on NWC with % in your name as of Monday I think. Well I'll finaly get to the point, is this not the same thing as in the original metroid with "JUSTIN BAILY", NARPASSWORD", etc. Whats with metroid games and name glitches?Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz 21:48, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- The classic passwords were especially crafted by developers. I believe the % glitch (which I have never tried, as I got my cartridge yesterday and have yet to join NWF). I believe this is more like a C language bug with the printf function, where %s is used to display a string and %n is used to display a number. This is just speculation, though. But I doubt it was made on purpose (like the previous passwords), as developers wouldn't do something to crash the game or corrupt data on purpose. -- ReyBrujo 17:07, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Critisim
Should there be s section for critisim of the game? Come on, what kind of lore entry is: No weapon would defeat Gorea.? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zgamer (talk • contribs) .

- Wikipedia, being an encyclopedia, is not a forum for opinions. General opinion is notable, personal reactions are not. Phil Bond 13:19, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Of course, we understand that. Reviewers, fan and professional, generally regard the game as very good overall, having a weak, even poor, Adventure mode. A good deal of fans consider the Adventure mode an insult to the series due to the many broken traditions. Know what? I'll just add a criticism section. Tell me what you think in this talk section. --Gaming King 08:04, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Done. It's a bit rough around the edges, so someone may want to re-word it, expand it, or whatever. I also added a Trivia section that needs expansion if possible. --Gaming King 09:08, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, new discussion below. --Gaming King 21:05, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Instead of creating a criticism section, perhaps we should expand the part of it being an FPS fvs an FPA. It is very obvious that, unlike most other metroid games (arguable even MP2), the multiplayer aspect is as deep and even more fleshed out than the single player.
Case in point, while all of the extra beams are neccessary to advance through certain situations through the single player, none of them really provide a combat advantage over the default beam. It is almost preferable to use the alternate beams only when neccesary. However in multiplayer, they serve to distinguish the abilities of each individual hunter. Just one example of a multiplayer game mechanic that is far deeper than anything achieved in single player.
In this sense it is almost possible to group MP:H in the same vein of hard-core FPS as Q3, UT, or even Halo. Something the console variants can not come close to claiming (not that that's bad)Neozero497 18:42, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Official Hunter Pictures
At the official site for the game, official artwork of the hunters can be found. I have these pictures on my computer. Should the current pictures (scans from the manual with captions) be replaced with the official, high-quality, non-captioned pictures? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dogman15 (talk • contribs) .
- Is it really necessary? Too high quality images are usually with the Template:Fair use reduce tag. I think WP:FAIR suggests to use low quality, contact the copyright owner to see if it is fine to use their high quality images under Fair use, and then upload those images if they agree... but I am not completely sure. -- ReyBrujo 05:07, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Should there be a colon in the title?
Okay, I am extremely fed up with that colon. Check the official sites. Not some place like GameFAQs that has it wrong, but look at an official source! Check it out in Nintendo Power, or just head right on down to Nintendo's official website.
You will find the following conclusion: IT'S "METROID PRIME HUNTERS", NOT "METROID PRIME: HUNTERS". Good grief, people, how'd you get that mixed up? Sorry, rant's finished. FIX IT. --Gaming King 10:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Does "METROID PRIME HUNTERS" MAKE GRAMMATICAL SENSE? If there is a subtitle like that, even if it's not in colons, it still implies a colon there.--Zxcvbnm 14:09, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- I believe it should be Metroid Prime Hunters, per MOS. And no need to shout, Gaming King, try to breathe some more. -- ReyBrujo 14:24, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, it seems that Metroid Prime Hunters is the full name of the game, with 'Hunters' being a part of it, rather than a subtitle. And no need to get so upset over this, Gaming King. :) --Codemonkey 00:29, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- This has already been addressed above. The Colon is a simple illustrative aid. Phil Bond 13:17, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- I see. Well, should we make a note of it somewhere? --Gaming King 06:27, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- A note that the colon isn't technically a part of the title? Just refer to precedents here, here, and here. This is the way it's done. Phil Bond 15:06, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- Those examples you listed all have colons as part of their title officially. This game is "Metroid Prime Hunters", NOT "Metroid Prime: Hunters" and shouldn't be listed with the colon. TJ Spyke 19:56, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- You can't just make a declaration like that. Show examples to support your contradiction. And by the way, have you ever heard the axiom "Pick your battles?" This whole nit-picking tempest in a teapot is a waste of everyone's time, including yours. Phil Bond 18:51, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

This debate is rather uneeded. The official title of the game is Metroid Prime Hunters. There is no colon in the title. Period. 0-172 2:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
'Criticism' removed
One sentance does not deserve its own section. Simple as that. If you want it to stay, incorporate it into the part on the game itself. Otherwise, it shouldn't be there. End of story. --69.145.123.171 19:00, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that the section was stupid, but it was a full paragraph, not just a sentence. Periods denote the seperation of individual sentences. Also, when making an aggressive change like that: you should log in, and try not to sound like a power tripper. Phil Bond 11:26, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, yeah. 'One sentance' was an exaggeration, I just said it like that because it seemed very insignificant. I don't have an account quite yet, so logging in would be difficult. 69.145.123.171 Hello! Wednesday, June 21, 2006, 20:50 (UTC)
Unanswered Questions
I know in the game the origins of Gorea, the fate of the Diamonts, and information about Sylux was never revealed, but has nintendo ever said if these questions would ever be answered? (11987 22:42, 18 June 2006 (UTC))
Yeah, they're doing spin-offs from the game, like the origins of each hunter. Sounds cool. I heard they're doing Weavel first, but I'm not sure... -MF14
That sounds pretty cool. Do you have any specifics about these games? {11987 00:03, 19 June 2006 (UTC)}
No, the game(s) are just being planned right now. Wait around and you'll find something about them on the net. -MF14
Imgine this. You turn on your DS< and start up MPH. It goes into the start video. Wouldn't it be cool to use all the sub haracters in that vid? E.g the kl things sylux kills, or the grey thing samus takes out? How about a section where you race Weavel through an odd warehouse? That, my friends, would be cool. Skullburn :D
Archive?
The talk page has become quite lengthy, most of it about information prior to release, so I propose that we archive all topics that are not ongoing. Thoughts? -Genus
- Agreed. Phil Bond 19:03, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Shadow Freeze
I just added a section on the Shadow Freeze to the 'Glitches' section. However, I was wondering if this is considered a glitch or technique, as the effect is obtained because of the path of a charged Judicator shot. I consider this a glitch, but I was wondering what others think. -Genus
- Hold on, delete the section. Without a better description, it has to go. We are not strategywiki, but an encyclopedia. Notice that there are no instructions for the missile push. Until we can say something describing how it looks, and why we think it's a glitch. I suggest including graphics(not noxus) and range. For a detailed argument and/or description about SF, click here. Same goes for all other gameplay glitches. We are not trying to educate spammers. Also, including glitches that are trivial (Rock glitch) generally informs the public, with something to the extent of: "Ooh! Pick me! Use me on Wi-Fi! I'm a sore loser!" Do we want that? I'm not saying going through walls with Weavel isn't notable, It's just hard to include in the article without saying it's possible and sending the community on a (well not exactly a) wild goose chase (but pretty much). SF is pretty much the only multiplayer glitch notable. -Shadow the Edge-hog 21:36, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Revised. I removed "Rock Glitch" and reworded "Shadow Freeze" to sound like an encyclopediac entry instead of a glitch guide. -Shadow the Edge-hog 00:04, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Arenas
Should we list the multi-player arenas in the article? I'm not sure what Wikipedia's policy is on this, and don't want to rush to action. Actually, if there is precedent for this, could someone link me to it? -Genus
- Actually, if you want to make a section on arenas, strategywiki is set up and ready to go. -Shadow the Edge-hog 01:14, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
"Weavel Magic" isn't a glitch.
I highly doubt that could count as a glitch. You have one HP, you drop a Halfturret, but the Halfturret needs some HP to run on, too. Solution? Give Weavel an extra hit point. This so-called "glitch" should be removed from the article. --Gaming King 08:43, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
I also agree, as if Weavel has 1 hp, it should be split in two, meaning 0.5 each. As there is no half HP, they should both be rounded up to 1. Dufman —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.25.248.251 (talk) 13:19, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Criticism cleaned up, re-added, and given source. Discuss possible improvements.
Someone reverted the criticism section I added, stating that it had no source and was possibly biased. I've added a source that covers all mentioned views and more. Anyone think we need to clean it up a bit. It looks good to me, but it could probably be better. --Gaming King 21:05, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- One website's opinion do not reflect that of the entire population. I can understand sourcing it, but you're going to need a lot more than a single review. I think it should be removed until enough proof can be presented that it is really biased. --69.145.123.171 22:50, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree here. To verify information, we need to add citations from several sources, not just one. Also, GameFAQs should not be used for reviews, as users create their own reviews. You need a staff of editors to do that, like IGN or Gamespot, not just someone who has an account and can write whatever they want. To give you an example, it is like creating a Geocities page stating that Metroid Prime Hunters is good but bad, and then quoting it in the article. -- ReyBrujo 23:04, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Only reviews of at least decent quality are accepted on GameFAQs. I cited it because it contains many reviews, positive and negative, from THE GAMING COMMUNITY. That's important. I would've tossed in links to IGN and GameSpot's reviews, but they're already in there. This is why I made this talk section. I made it so that you guys can discuss, edit, and improve my work. Don't be so cynical, just help me. ;) --Gaming King 23:47, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- You can go to GameRankings or MetaCritics. They collect several reviews from some notable game reviewers. Then go to each of every review and pick the criticism that has been included in most of the reviews, and finally add those to the site. Even if GameFAQs accepts only good quality reviews, those reviews are from people who are amateur, biased, non notable and non professional reviewers, contrary to the ones working in Eurogamer, IGN, GameSpot and Gamespy in example. -- ReyBrujo 00:09, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- The problem, though, is that the reviews for MPH have been positive, with very little or no criticism. If one guy said Super Smash Brothers was the worst game ever made, we wouldn't include that in the article. It has to be a general agreement. The general thoughts on MPH are nothing like the GF review. If we can't find at least five or six mentions, I'm going to remove it again. Sorry, but we need something better than 'the gaming community agrees'. --69.145.123.171 00:15, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I checked Rotten Tomatoes. There were three negative reviews out of ten. One of the reviews was soley on multiplayer, so the other two should have stronger weight than third. Anyway, both said that singleplayer wasn't what they expected it to be. So there it a bit of a lash on the singleplayer, but not enough to merit its own heading and section. So I think the best thing to do here would be to incorporate the 'criticism' into another section, or add a 'reaction' section and list both the good and the bad. --69.145.123.171 00:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Glitches and criticism
Alright, the glitches part needs to go unless it's referenced, because it's original research. The criticism is NPOV, for an example see This criticism page, which was deleted because it was NPOV. Therefore it may need to be deleted too unless it is sourced.--Zxcvbnm 21:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

How will we do this? Story question
I took this out fromm the article
"===Present Day===
But eventually the energy of the Seal Sphere lowered over time, as Gorea managed to awaken itself. It sent out a psychic message to thousands of individuals in thousands of languages and dialects, telling them that the secret to ultimate power lies in the Alimbic Cluster. They began to fight the Alimbic guardians and each other for possession of eight Octoliths. Eventually Samus Aran gained all eight of them and activated the Alimbic Cannon, a machine that broke a barrier between dimensions to open the Infinity Void and allow access to the Oubliette.
Each of the hunters rushed to the ancient ship, Samus entering last to find the other six had broken open the Seal Sphere with the combinations of their weapons. They were severely wounded by Gorea, who absorbed their weapon data. It then attacked Samus using the Hunter's weapons.
However, Gorea was defeated, but was revived in a new, more powerful form by shooting symbols in a corrct sequence with the appropriate weapon. Releasing Alimbic essence in the Seal Sphere, Gorea returned to full power. However, Samus used the Alimbic weapon, the Omega Cannon, to penetrate Gorea's previously indestructible armor. Both Samus and the others managed to survive the destruction of the Oubliette (which took structural damage with Gorea's death), and Samus was telepathically contacted by spirits of the Alimbics, who thanked her as she left."
Now, i dont no how we can add a summary; the vagueness of Hunters makes it impossible to come up with the official sotry. We don not know who sent the message out, nor do we know if the seal sphere energy lowered or ran out. I propose we do not add this section until the official story is released. An old version also said Gorea destroyed the Alimbic essence, but we dont know the truth; i always thought activating the prophecy did that, but that would be speculation. What should we do? (11987 12:55, 9 August 2006 (UTC))
Nobody has a solution? If so, we must leave it as it is. (11987 14:03, 19 August 2006 (UTC))

I realize now why it kept being deleted. Never mind. 0-172 2:35, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Gaming Wiki?
I've got an issue with the following notice displayed on the Metroid Prime Hunters article:
This article or section is a candidate to be moved to a gaming wiki.
Articles on computer and video games should not list minutiae or give a detailed description of how to play the game. Such topics should be moved to a gaming wiki, such as StrategyWiki, Encyclopedia Gamia, or GameInfo.
If the article or section can be re-written to give an encyclopedic overview, please do so and remove this message. See What Wikipedia is not and WikiProject Computer and video games for further details on content guidelines.
According to What Wikipedia is not, walkthrus, controls, and enemy information is inappropriate. I can almost understand the not wanting walkthrus, as walkthrus have little encyclopedic value, but as a video game collector, controls and enemy information can be hard to find, and is often essential relevant knowledge. I think that relegating such information to a separate site negates the value of the article. If I need to consult another site for video game info, then why come to wikipedia in the first place?
Either accept all relevant information, or don't allow the games at all. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bm5k (talk • contribs) .
- Articles on Wikipedia are written for the casual reader. When editing a video game article, it should not be written with a gamer in mind. Description of controls are not of interest to a non-gamer reader and are thus not appropriate for inclusion. Pagrashtak 02:02, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Alternatively, you can "prosify" everything, removing the unnecessary information ("Capable of a inflicting 200 damage if a headshot is achieved", "explodes after 5 seconds", "equal amount of damage as an Imperialist headshot, 200", etc). As for Bm5k's last paragraph, this is not the place for discussing that. Be sure that if needed, all games would be removed from Wikipedia, as it happened in Wikibooks. -- ReyBrujo 02:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Only on one level?
Someone used the Omega Cannon against me on the Alinos Perch and on my friend at the Combat Hall. How did he unlock this? Should we change the article so that it says that the Omega Cannon can be unlocked somewhere else in the game? Because the article is hardly accurate if it doesn't have this information. Thanks :-) Ilikefood 21:59, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'd say that's grounds for doubt. I'll take out that "only one level" bit unless someone provides a reliable source to prove it. --Herald Alberich 02:42, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'd say its not lol. Its called action replay and its considered cheating.Kanden7[pf]
- Are you sure? I looked up just about every action replay code online and i didnt find any for making omega cannon an affinity weapon. Ilikefood 19:38, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- it's not an affinity weapon. there's a code that just gives you omega cannon right of the bat. the level where it's collectable/usable without a cheat is oubliette. (correct me if i spelled that wrong. if not, delete this parinthesis)
Yeah...but use of the a.r. is strictly prohibited. I just tried using the infinite life thing against my friend and it instantly kicked us both off even wireless plays. :/—Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.170.197.10 (talk • contribs)
Disconnectors
Its becoming so bad to the point that it is ruining the game for many. Perhaps we should add a naughty list of the all the known hackers and disconners on this page, to help other gamers to avoid them and eventually cause them to stop playing the game and to go ruin another game instead. To avoid innocent players being put on the list, we should get verification from at least 4 people who play the game and say this person did so and so before they are put on the naughty list. kanden7[pf] 10:38, 09 February 2007 (UTC)
- That is not the purpose of Wikipedia. Besides which, such a list would be impossible to compile and maintain. --Herald Alberich 03:52, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- I would have to get a lot of people in on it first to pull it off, but I can start it off with at least 20 people as is. I think Wikipedia's popularity might help to end the hacking/disconning for ever.kanden7[pf]
- Ummm... Dude? I think he just said that that's what Wikipedia is not for. Maybe post it on a forum somewhere instead... good idea though... Ilikefood 23:08, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have never played an anonymous game of MPH before, as I only play with friends, or people I meet on forums, so I've never experienced cheating/glitching/disconnecting. If people are so frustrated with that, I recommend playing this way, as the experience is so much better (you're able to talk to each other and play other game modes). Mario as an unlockable character?
I just noticed today that at the bottom of the unlockable characters section, it states that "Mario is also a playable character after 100% scans and you win 1 million wifi connection games". Not only does this sound ridiculously suspicious, but its questionable grammer and lack of a proper citation seem to point at it being somebody's idea of an April Fools joke. increased amount of hackers on Wi-Fi
guys, the problem has become far worse than it ever was. I mean now you have people masquerading as non-hackers, and then revealing it to get a kill. What I mean is, like on combat hall, the guy will walk around while you shoot him, pretending like he is a noob, but when I get close to him, he just walks into me and deathalts me while still in biped form. This is out of control, its unfair and we need to do something about it. I think the best course of action is to propose the Action Replay article for deletion and replace it with an article talking only about its bad aspects. Doesn't this hacking thing really bother any of you guys, I mean Wikipedia aside, cause its really pissing me off, and unless we can find a hitman willing to kill all of them off for a low price(IT'S A JOKE GUYS!!!), we have to start here. Kanden7 pf (Wi-Fi name lol i don't have a wiki-name) 7:36 A.M. March 20 2007 Me again, can't we at least ways that people can identify a hacker??? That way if they see one they can safe d/c and not lose due to a cheater or a shadow freezer as well.
- Don't play wiith hackers. Play with people you know, or find on forums - the experience is a lot more fun since you're able to talk to each other, which is kind of hard on anonymous games on Nintendo Wifi. Perhaps Nintendo ought to set up something to detect cheaters and modders like Xbox live. Samx 22:29, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

It is only an opinion. Unless there is a source saying this is true, It is an opinion and should not be included in the article.--Chykka207 (talk) 18:25, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I also removed a similar statement for Weavel, as well as this:
After escaping from Oubliette, Trace returned to his planet with not the expected one planet, but Four planets. This gave him the rank of Assassin, the highest rank in the Kriken Empire.
This too, is a guess, as well as vandalism. There is no mention of this at the end of the game about what happened following Gorea's defeat and what Trace did afterward or assassin rank. I also fixed other parts of the descriptions, including unnecessary info.--Chykka207 (talk) 18:53, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
