editThe Human Ebola Virus Name I feel that this nickname should get be mentioned somewhere in his article. Though it is a negative nickname for him, it is not obscene, and it is actually much more commonly known among fans than "kandi man" is. In Boston and the surrounding areas the newspapers refer to him as the ebola virus, sometimes without even citing that it is a nickname he has acquired, because so many people are so familiar with that nickname for him. I could have cited numerous newspaper sports articles where they speak of the "human ebola virus" when referring to Olowokandi, but instead i decided to cite the nickname to a ESPN.com article, since it is a nationally recognized website, and thus them reffering to him as it should show that it has national, not just regional, implications to his name. I understand it is not a positive nickname, but he has acquired it, and it is not purely demeaning. It may not belong at the top of his article, where i put it, but it does belong somewhere for its relevance to his cultural identity in the sports media.
Rewrites to reflect Olowokandi's quality of play
editI've rewritten various sections of this article, especially those that reference things like "strong play" and "good numbers." An unbiased view of Olowokandi's play is that he was a bad player and never had a strong season. As such, I included his FG% and turnovers per game to his 2002-03 numbers to paint a more complete picture. Also, I've removed the reference to his "below market value" signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves; by almost any measure, Olowokandi was quite dramatically overpaid in every season (except his minimum-salary final season). Again, this is a pretty neutral point of view. The article as written before sounded like it was written by someone quite sympathetic to Olowokandi. If there is debate on his skill level and effectiveness, I will begin linking to sites with more advanced metrics. Hpanic7342 (talk) 21:31, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
