Fake Battle Scenes

This film appears to cover the Pearl Harbor Raid, Dolittle Raid, and Battle of Midway, the first six months of the Pacific war from the American perspective. The same waters covered by the epic Japanese film Storm Over the Pacific (Hawaii-Midway Battle of the Sea and Sky) from the Japanese perspective, and the four American films Tora! Tora! Tora!, Pearl Harbor, 30 Seconds Over Tokyo, and Midway. I do believe the trailer depiction of Zeros weaving between the ship masts on Battleship Row in Pearl Harbor strafing their decks is ahistoric, repeating scenes from the movie Pearl Harbor also criticised as ahistoric when it was released. Battleship row was attacked in the first wave by Kate horizontal bombers armed with torpedoes, then Zeroes made a strafing pass above mast level to suppress anti-aircraft fire, then Kates with 1700lb battleship shells modified as aerial bombs followed at high altitude. Zeroes weaving below the mast tops strafing the battleships? Don't think it happened that way. Hollywood reimagining historical events? I do not have high hopes for this film. Is this really getting an IMAX release?

Because somebody wrote this:

"Midway is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate on November 8, 2019 in IMAX."

I am wondering why the film left out  Jack "Dusty" Kleiss    The only American pilot to hit 3 enemy ships in the battle of Midway, his bombs struck 2 Japanese aircraft carriers  and 2 days later he hit a Japanese cruiser and sank it. Release Date (8 Nov 2019) is that in the US and is wrong, as it was released on 7 Nov 2019 in Germany (only)...

...let alone the "World Premiere" in Munich, Germany on 24 Oct 2019. The passage in the German WP reads (with sources 4 and 5 provided by me below):

Ende Juni 2019 wurde ein erster Trailer vorgestellt.[3] Am 24. Oktober 2019 erfolgte eine erste Vorstellung des Films in der Münchner Astor Filmlounge im Filmpalast.[4][5] Der Film kam am 7. November 2019 in die deutschen[6] und am darauffolgenden Tag in die US-Kinos.

First: Excuse me for being too German (I am one) here ;-), but: This is an interesting information for a number of reasons - though Emmerich (as a German) is practically an American film editor, this enormously expensive Indie-production is firstly shown as a world premiere in Germany on 24 Oct 2019 and then also started one day prior to the US on 7 Nov 2019 (which happens, but with US directed films its typically different). Second, the cinema where the world premiere happened (with the editor and producer and main actor Ed Skrein present) is enormously small ;-) but exclusivly set in the 5-star Hotel "Bayerischer Hof", one of the best hotels in Munich (see Link with pic: Webpage of Astor Cinema Lounge). I do not have a clue about the reasons, maybe a decent amount of the financing came from Germany, though I did not do research on that one.

So why do I not include this in the article but write my a... off here? I don't know ;-) Ought to be short when I started, but grew and grew... Also, I do not know the specialties of editing in the en-WP, being an experienced author in the German WP (there are definitely subtle differences between the two which I did not want to experience...)

Worst written plot section on Wikipedia.

The plot section is repetitive. Paragraphs following paragraphs repeating what is in the previous paragraph. The second section repletes the first section. Virtually no prose at all. I have found some historical inaccuracy, for example,

the US air craft marking at Pearl Harbor,

the bridge of Japanese aircraft career Kaga,

there is no or minimum depiction about Japanese scout 4 from cruiser Tone, the Operation K, admiral Kondo`s fleet, Aleutian Islands campaign, and especially the attacking USS Yorktown (including no depiction of admiral Fletcher, Kusaka and Tomonaga.) Propatriamori (talk) 11:11, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
