Vegan?

edit

The entry for The Network mentions that Mike is a vegan. If so, we ought to include it, but does anyone have any confirmation (ex. an interview with him) substantiating that claim? Dylan 19:49, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sort of, in the filming for the American Idiot music video - making of - Mike is eating Chinese chicken salad. I guess that proves he's not a vegan, but I used to think he was. I know Billie used to be a vegetarian. 172.143.124.71 23:05, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
In the Question and Answer section of the Idiot Club, Billie says that none of the members of Green Day are vegetarians. The Network is fiction.--Jude 08:37, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fan Clubs section

edit

Is there anyone else who thinks this doesn't belong here? Unsubstantiated, irrelevant, worthless information that is most certainly not encyclopedic.--Alhutch 22:20, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

So you've finally stopped deleting my information? Unfortunately, now you seem to be trying to attack it instead of deleting it. Why not try to improve on it instead of just attacking it without having any reason to. Those are facts and I would like to see you prove otherwise

PantsMikeBrigader1 22:32, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

they may be facts, but the question is, do they belong on Wikipedia? I think it is clear that they do not.--Alhutch 22:35, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Just because something does not conform to YOUR standards does not mean it doesn't belong on Wikipedia. I'll admit, my writing leaves something to desire, but that's why its posted on Wikipedia. To be improved upon, not to be critized by someone like you. And you know what else is clear? That I really shouldn't waste my time starting an arguement. Especially with a person so narrow-minded as you seem to be.

PantsMikeBrigader1 22:38, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I'm not judging by my standards. I am judging by established Wikipedia policy. That's why I referred you to the WP:NOT page. You should familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policy. By the way, blanking critical comments from your own talk page is considered vandalism.--Alhutch 22:41, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

It is? That for example is something I didn't know. I was merely trying to figure out how to work Wikipedia. So maybe I have a lot to learn. I'm a new user here at Wikipedia. Don't you have something better to do than pick on 13 year olds who are new users?

By the way, I really don't have the time for this right now, so don't bother responding unless you have some suggestions, rather than complaints :)

PantsMikeBrigader1 22:45, 15 October 2005 (UTC) Yay this rules!Reply

sorry if you thought i was picking on you. I shall try to stay civil.--Alhutch 23:17, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I removed the fan clubs section. my justification is this: if the fan clubs section had been its own article, i would have nominated it for deletion, and i believe that there would have been consensus for deleting it. Wikipedia is not a listing of message boards, and the fan group mentioned in this section does not meet criterion for being notable.--Alhutch 01:17, 22 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Too long intro?

edit

Is it just me, but doesn't the intro seem a big long? If no one minds I am going to split it up... --Seriocomic 05:33, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of the int*o...

edit

i'm pretty sure mike didnt say to his mom, "f*ck" he probably said the whole word. i'm going to get rid of the stars if no one has any issues.

Photo

edit

So, where is the photo of Mike and Tré?

--Mataga 13:22, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Which photo are you referring to?--Jude 23:15, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
On the back cover of nimrod.

Bass guitar

edit

Is Mike's bass the same as Sid vicious? It looks the same in Bullet in a Bible and I was wondering if I should put it in the article.I also noticed he has exactly the same hair cut as Sid.

--sk8punk4life 13:27 26 August 2006 (UTC)

are you serious?! Sid Vicious was the worst bassist in history, I don't think Mike Dirnt wants to have anything to do with him. He and Sid don't have the same hair cut. Nor do they use the same bass.--Jude 08:19, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

He uses a Mike Dirnt Signature P-Bass from Fender. You can look it up on fender and add it to the article which is missing info about his bass --JJ

Marriages and children

edit

I removed the part about he and Anastasia still being good friends because as nice as it sounds, it's unsourced and irrelavant. It may be true, but I want to work on sourcing information more often.--Jude 05:12, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Again... please cite sources guys... we all know that it sounds nice, but it's not sourced. No one needs to know how often he sees his kid. It's not information that should be public.--Jude 01:39, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lame fact

edit

I took out this lame trivia fact:

  • In the Canadian cartoon 6teen there is a character named "Mike Dent" which may be a pun on his name.

Dent is a real last name, and Mike is the most common first name in the US. This does not belong in Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.41.14.138 (talk) 22:24, 7 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

It is indeed a lame fact. After all, the name could have been just a coincidence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.52.71.111 (talk) 19:04, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Citation

edit

Recently someone requested citation for a few of the article's quotes, and I couldn't remember where they occurred, but then I recalled that it was Driven right? Or was it Behind the Music? I'm not entirely sure. How would we cite "Driven" or "Behind the Music" as a source being as it's a visual rather than textual interview and it's not readily available to everyone?--JUDE talk 08:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Birthday

edit

The introduction states that Mike's birthday is May 4, but the infobox says his birthday is April 4. Would someone please fix this coz I don't know which is correct. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chavmusiksux (talkcontribs) 15:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Nevermind, I looked it up at greenday.net and changed it myself Chavmusiksux 17:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

I have created an external links section. People please add some more appropriate links. Also I don't think the see also section is needed now. The cheese master 06:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC) I deleted 'see also' and moved wikiquote to external links. The cheese master 06:31, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mike's teeth

edit

It says in Woodstock that a guard knocked some of his front teeth out.Since by then all his adult teeth have come in, does that mean that some of his front teeth are fake? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.220.168.231 (talk) 04:03, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unamplified or air?

edit

In the lead section, it mentions he gained his nickname because he made the sound dirnt, dirnt, dirnt while playing air bass, but in career, it says he gained it by bringing his bass to school and plucking the unamplified strings. Which one is it? Sincerely, --AugustusAudax (talk|contribs) P.S: Aliens exist 13:22, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
