Used Car and Sawdust
editUnder the heading Likes, it is claimed one of Miss Trunchbull's likes was "Matilda's father (until she realizes the second-hand car he sold her is in fact run with sawdust)." I do not have a copy of either the movie or the book at hand, but I was under the impression that the car did not run on sawdust. Rather, I thought that Matilda's father employed the used car salesman's trick of putting sawdust in the transmission, which has the effect of temporarily hiding the signs of a worn-out transmission.
Unfortunately, I have neither the movie or the book available at this time. Can anybody who has either the movie or the book confirm this either way, or confirm that it is unclear?
- You're right, of course. 91.107.170.70 (talk) 23:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
This article is hopeless
editPretty self-explanatory. --Jupiter Optimus Maximus (talk) 19:38, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Unless someone knowledgeable on the subject trims the article greatly in a timely manner, I am going to remove the crufty sections entirely. Doctorfluffy (robe and wizard hat) 17:12, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
"She needs a car because she can run a tight ship." This makes no sense, neither logically nor grammatically. Sorry, I don't feel that I can repair this as I haven't read the book or seen the movie. John Gamble (talk) 18:52, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Apparently this is still an issue 8 years later. I deleted the bottom section entirely, as it was a repeat of the top section with worse grammar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.30.134.178 (talk) 00:51, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
Inaccuracy?
edit"She is revealed to be the paternal aunt (or step-aunt in the film)". In the film, isn't she Miss Honey's maternal aunt/step-moth? SecretName101 (talk) 06:01, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Accident
editI seem to have accidentally deleted the character part by accident while trying to add an image, is there a fix? 7EZdOLWN18 (talk) 04:26, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- Im so sorry you must of spent so long doing that character 86.21.252.171 (talk) 10:52, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
