Editing Needed
editThis article is in dire need of editing. For example, "Released in 1996, Ethan Hunt is framed for not only the murder" makes no sense whatsoever from a grammatical standpoint--it implies that Ethan Hunt was released in 1996, not the film. A more skilled writer should really edit this page (and, presumably, the other Mission: Impossible-related pages). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.115.126.47 (talk) 03:18, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
Theme Song
editI think it is not 5/4 but 7/8. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.66.44.243 (talk) 19:56, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's 5/4. It's also now cited. oknazevad (talk) 23:29, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Expand
editThis article should be expanded to discuss not just the film series, but the franchise as a whole, after all, it did not begin with the films. Charles Essie (talk) 21:34, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- The article about the original TV series covers it, as it has sections briefly covering the revival TV series, the films, video games, even the novels from the time of the original series. As it's at the unadorned name, with no disambiguator, it serves as a general franchise article. oknazevad (talk) 03:10, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- In that case, that information should be moved here. There should be a franchise article because the tv series isn't really the primary topic. The films are equally (if not more) important to the franchise. Charles Essie (talk) 21:00, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Mission: Impossible (film series) → Mission: Impossible (franchise) – Per my above arguments. Charles Essie (talk) 21:00, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose a separate article should be created for the franchise. This is article is already long, and the film series has its own continuity, so deserving of its own article. -- 70.51.203.69 (talk) 02:16, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose per the anon. As I said above, the main article on the original TV series covers much of that currently. I can see the idea of splitting that article into one specifically about the TV series (Mission: Impossible (1966 TV series)) and a general franchise article at the undisambiguated title, but this article should remain as an overview of just the film series. oknazevad (talk) 03:38, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- I'd fine with that, Charles Essie (talk) 17:25, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
Principle Cast
editI suggest that we shrink this list to include only individuals who have appeared in more than one film. Otherwise, it just seems excessive. An thoughts? -Xcuref1endx (talk) 06:22, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- Since the proposition never received any objections, and that the category is started to get far too big, especially to mention character that only appeared once (and some of them in rather minor roles) whose place seem to be in the article of said movie instead. Not to mention that with the sixth movie comming, it's not getting any smaller unless we limit it to people who are reccuring. --Hyliad (d) 19:29, 4 June 2017 (CEST)
- I think we should limit it, yes. While more than one film is tempting, it's not standard as it's leave out main characters (like villains) that only appeared once. If we're going to limit it, the criteria should be credited in the poster. That way we're just reporting what the films themselves claim as principal cast. oknazevad (talk) 20:02, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'm new to this whole Wiki editing thing, but if you're only listing actors credited on the poster, why are you keeping Emilio Estevez, Dominic Purcell, Aaron Paul, Josh Holloway, Léa Seydoux, Samuli Edelmann, Jens Hultén, Wes Bentley and Frederick Schmidt on there? Michael Nyqvist, the villain in Ghost Protocol, isn't even listed on the poster/Blu-ray credits. -- IkariWarriors 01:03, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
Video Games
editThe franchise also had a pillar in video games. I would like to include that pillar. --Derim Hunt (d) 19:31, 24 July 2017 (CEST)
- This article is about the film series only. oknazevad (talk) 20:58, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
- Can we change it into an article about the whole franchise? Derim Hunt (d) 23:38, 24 July 2017 (CEST)
- No, this article is already a sub-article for the franchise, and specifically exists to collate comparable information about the films, such as the casts, box office returns, and critical reviews for ease of comparison by readers. The video games have their own articles, and at most a mention belong in the respective series or film that they adapt. So the NES game is mentioned at the Mission: Impossible (1988 TV series) article, and the PS1/N64 and Game Boy games are mentioned at the article on the first film, on which they are based. They also are mentioned at the article on the original TV series, as that article is the overview of the franchise as a whole. oknazevad (talk) 01:12, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

Controversy
editThe section heading "Controversy" seems WP:UNDUE. It might be better titled "Criticism" or "Actor response" but there was nothing on any scale large enough to be called "Controversy. Some fans and the original actor were unhappy which is fair, they are entitled to their opinions but it is a big overstatement to call it Controversy. -- 109.79.186.58 (talk) 17:28, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
White Widow mentioned in the first movie??
editAccording to the Cast and Characters section of this article, Alanna Mitsopolis aka White Widow from Fallout is mentioned in the first film. I've checked the script and the subtitles for the first film and there's no mention of her whatsoever. Not even by Max, who is the character's mother. Unless someone can cite otherwise I think this note should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.98.246.162 (talk) 00:21, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
MI8 Article
editIt has been reported that Mission: Impossible 8 has started filming. First of all, is there any evidence that proves this, and if so, should the article for MI8 be created and published? Red4Smash (talk) 02:51, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- There is a draft located here. This source states that filming has begun, so I would not oppose that draft being moved to mainspace per WP:NFF. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:04, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- I have gone ahead and moved the page, you can find it at Mission: Impossible 8. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:14, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
"Cast and Crew"
editAre we giving too much undue attention to this window? It seems to be stretching things as if Mission Impossible was some kind of Cinematic Universe. The Cells look alright for a moment before they start looking like a staircase for people who have only been in one film not multiple. The Cast of Characters is an appropriate term but the crew? Isn't a title like that for producers, directors, key grips, etc etc?
I think a simplification is called for, everything else is for the movie articles themselves. Maxcardun (talk) 17:03, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
- if you look above, I had made the proposal that only those appearing in the poster billing blocks should be listed. That was followed for some time (as seen in the edit history). How things got back to having far too many one-off characters I haven't been paying attention to. I think that's still the best way to deal with it. oknazevad (talk) 18:02, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
- Perhaps someone "Loopholed" it by changing the subheading to "Cast and Crew". Maxcardun (talk) 20:44, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
