Talk:Mohammad Mokhber

First and last name

Hello. Muhammad is the written and spoken form in Arabic countries, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. But he is Iranian. In Iran it's written and spoken as Mohammad. Also, Mukhbar is wrong for the same reason (and 'a' should be 'e' here). So, it should be Mokhber. Aminabzz (talk) 17:55, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Having had a look at reliable sources (of which there are many today), the correction as suggested seems to be correct. I'll move the article. Schwede66 03:04, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see that this has just been moved to the current name. I'd say it needs more input in that case. LolingTom, a birth certificate is NOT what we would base this on. We go by what reliable sources say. Schwede66 03:09, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
For now, I shall reinstate the article name to Mohammad Mokhber. This can be further discussed but to avoid disruption, I will move protect the title for a fortnight as it will likely be posted to the main page. Schwede66 05:22, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hmm?

The page says;

“Following the death of President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi HY"D that was caused by Israeli Terrorist Forces, he has assumed the role of acting president of Iran.”

Let’s keep a cool head, shouldn’t we… PanchoVdk (talk) 10:59, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

He should still be listed as the incumbent First VP

edit

when an official assumes a higher office in acting capacity, they do so by virtue of the office they hold at the time; he should still be listed as VP, since he's the VP acting as President. 24.151.14.67 (talk) 16:42, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Indeed, isn't it because he's the primary veep, that he's acting president? GoodDay (talk) 21:54, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Date of birth in dispute

edit

Hi, the article cites a non-English source (Farsi?) to corroborate the DOB of June 26, 1955.

However, today Reuters reports that his DOB is September 1st, 1955 (info captured at 16:52 PM EDT).

Should a note or label be added that mentions that this statistic is in doubt?

Thank you @Denstat:,
Good find! I machine translated the Farsi for the original Farsi cite for Mokhber's birthday and it appears that there was a conversion error between the Farsi calendar and the Gregorian calendar (which is used in pretty much the rest of the world). I think that some journalists in a hurry use Wikipedia as a source for their articles, and I noted that prior to Raisi's death, every English article I could find listed September 1, 1955 as Mokhber's birthday. I went with that. I hold any article suspect that was written after Raisi's death, because after Raisi's death I think it is more probable that journalists might have quickly used Wikipedia as an "article source." It would seem that sometimes misinformation in Wikipedia can have a ripple effect in the rest of the media-sphere!

Pretty much every persian language article states his birthday as "Tir 1334" (equivalent to June/July)
So June 26 is probably correct.
Persian WP also says "4 Tir 1334" , equivalent to June 26 1955 , but seems to provide no source.
(I am a fluent persian speaker)

A Separate Article About His Government

Why would there be an separate article about the government of Mohammad Mokhber in the first place? Why not just expand the section about his act as a president of Iran here instead of making a separate article about it. I suggest merging the article about his government to the section about his act as a president. And one more thing, please don't tell me the reason for the article about his government is because it's notable because I doubt it was. Anonymy365248 (talk) 10:03, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oppose Most Iran governments have their own page , see Government of Ebrahim Raisi (2021–2024) and Government of Hassan Rouhani (2017–2021). And theres should be no exception because Mokhber is an interim president. AlexBobCharles (talk) 09:35, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
But that separate article about Mohammad Mokhber's government in 2024 doesn't look notable to begin with. Anonymy365248 (talk) 04:50, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

3O Response: 3O isn't really the venue for this dispute. There hasn't (yet) been significant discussion regarding this dispute, and, as this dispute is specifically in regards to a potential merge, the steps at WP:MERGEPROP should be followed to elicit additional opinions. Writing style

edit

The article is written very weirdly. It uses a lot of bold text instead of sub-sections and half the article is about his corruption , which doesn't seem very neutral. Also AlexBobCharles (talk) 09:46, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
