The original version includes a line being beaten by the object of the singer's affection. This has been cut in the Barbra Streisand version, which many arrangements follow since. The Peggy Lee and Regina Spektor versions, listed as notable here, include the line. Consider this is a torch song of devotion, I'm guessing it's relatively un-PC to speak of a man who willingly hits a woman these days; are there any sources that can make such a mention notable? 12.162.122.5 (talk) 18:15, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The CabarEng stage show version deals with this angle specifically. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 23:35, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Remove irrelevant image

edit

I don't see how this image adds anything to this article.

Swedish cabaret singer Yaiya does My Man on tour in Boston in 2011.

Nothing about the photograph illustrates the song, adds a new perspective on it or in any other way demonstrates the song's effectiveness. The singer could be singing ANY song, or just screaming into he microphone, and the photo would look exactly the same.

Instead of this photograph, an audio clip of this singer SINGING this song could be very useful, and such a clip would even justify including this photo, to give the reader a visual context for the audio clip—but the photo by itself just doesn't work. To a reader of this article, it only raises the question, "Why is this picture here?"

The ONLY thing this photo does is take up space and add some color to an otherwise mostly-text article; neither of those is sufficient justification for including it. It might be relevant in the singer's article, but it is not relevant in this one. I'm going to remove it. If someone has an audio clip of this performance, please add it to the article and restore the photograph along with it.

Here's a clip, as suggested. Pls add it. Im' reluctant to do so, ebcause I'm not sure how. It's free as per the YouTube text and the Southerly Clubs OTRS.

Music video by Maruja Garrido and Salvador Dalí

edit

Please could editors stop adding this section, at least until it is properly referenced and discussed in detail, otherwise it puts WP:UNDUE weight on this version over the other, more important cover versions. --woodensuperman 15:12, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Actually, it's not actually even clear that Dalí directed it. A Google search would suggest it might actually be directed by Valerio Lazarov. --woodensuperman 15:19, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good catch. His appearance in the video still does make it notable. Would have been quite an interesting film shoot. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:28, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
