Name Change
editJust a heads up that the Victorian College of Pharmacy might change their name to Monash University Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Yasunat (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 08:20, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well I think it's official, hence the page move, given that Monash staff (across other campuses as well) are receiving email from the Dean to confirm the name change as of Friday 22th August 2008. Huyie (talk) 04:11, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree about the name change, as I said yesterday replying to you on my talk page. As you have just added to the article "In August 2008, the Victorian College of Pharmacy underwent a name change to reflect its position within Monash, to the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences". It did not change from "Victorian College of Pharmacy" to "Monash University, Parkville Campus". It has been that for may years. The Faculty name is more important than the campus name. It should be Monash University Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in line with the name of other articles about Monash Faculties. --Bduke (talk) 04:43, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- This is a weird case, since the Parkville campus is the only campus to house only one faculty, hence wasn't sure which way around the redirect should go, compared to all the other campuses, which incorporates more than one faculty. Huyie (talk) 04:51, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- On second thought, maybe a new separate page will be required to reflect the 'Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences' name change occurring, since from my understanding, one of the reasons for the name change is due to the new Bachelor of Pharmacy course being introduced in 2009 at the Sunway campus? Huyie (talk) 05:14, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- That is an interesting and important point. However, I am still inclined to think the major article (i.e. this one) should be called after the Faculty with a mention of the new course on the Sunway campus added . We would then need a reference somewhere to the fact that the Parkville campus houses the main part of the P & PS Faculty. That could be just on the main university article. I would like others to comment, not just the two of us. --Bduke (talk) 08:28, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
