Concerning ff6mogart.jpg

Would using fanart be a vague violation of the "no original research" rule? Just wondering considering a majority of fanart done isn't really professional enough for inclusion in an encyclopedia. And even if artwork was included in the article for aesthetic reasons, wouldn't it be better to use something official from Square Enix? -- Dualcore Dave

Discrepancies

The Roman numeral names of FF games (with the exceptions of FFVI and FFX-2) point to the article for Final Fantasy (through redirects), not the individual games. It would be best to have this fixed, but nobody has done articles on those games yet. -- LGagnon

Questions

This article refers to "giant moogle(s)." If I remember corectly, however, Cait Sith rode atop of a mechanical giant moogle, not a living thing. Is there any other refernce to giant moogles besides Cait Sith's robot? If not, this should be fixed Dustin Asby 22:04, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I believe that, in one of the earlier FF games, there was a giant, fat chocobo. It wouldn't be too far fetched for there to be giant moogles, as well. --216.234.211.155 06:14, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

The fat chocobo is a whole separate matter from the moogles, though. He's had a role in the Chocobo series games, and he's been in a myriad of games ranging from FFIV to FFVII (where he sometimes replaced Choco/Mog). But as FFVII was the only game to use a giant moogle - which was a doll anyways - I think it's unlikely we'll be seeing them again, and I don't really think there's much need to go beyond mentioning Cait Sith's odd steed. "Mogli"

"Moguri" is verifiable. It's transliterated directly from the kana. "Mogli" is not. If anything, it's a fan translation. I suppose you could cite the FFTactics "Mogli" summon, but FFTactics isn't exactly authoritative in terms of translation. ("Lune Knight" anyone?) I'm pretty certain that the little orange guys who helped Laguna out in the prison were called Moogles in 8.

Exploitation Now

Is Ralph actually a moogle? He resembles one, but I have read the comic and I do not recall that they ever said what he actually was. The closest Poe ever came to doing so was scenes in which he angrily denied being Hello Kitty or a Pokemon.

I specifically remember a comic in which Bimbo asks Ralph what he is, or he gets a reader question about it, and he's like "Isn't it obvious? I'm--" "Kupo!" he's interrupted by a normal-looking moogle delivering a lawsuit from Squaresoft. Pompoms?

I recall Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles referring to it as a bonbon. When's it called a pompom?

It was called that in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. Maybe there's another source, dunno.

In the Enlgish version of Final Fantasy IX, a Moogle comments about consuming something that didn't taste too well, saying 'It almost caused [someone's] pompom to fall off!' --Bakabaka 14:55, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Cabbit?

In the see also section, there is a link to Cabbit. I have no idea why someone looking for an article on Moogles would be interested in Cabbits, nor why they would even care. Chocobos and Rabites I can understand, as they're both species of animals in Square games, but Cabbits? Viltris 19:42, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

If you read the Cabbit article, you'll see that Moogle's are actually a type of Cabbit (according to the article), so it is appropriate to link to the Cabbit article. If you believe this to be innacurate, discuss that on the Cabbit page. Timbatron 22:40, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't say that Moogles are a type of Cabbit on the Cabbit page, and it doesn't say it on the Moogle page either. And I've never heard anyone in any FF community use the term Cabbit before. Therefore, since it's not verifiable, I'm going to delete it from BOTH pages. Viltris 21:30, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

I would go so far as to say that the term "cabbit" is never even used in the context of anime. I can't find any sources on google to support this use of the word, so I'm going to look into deleting that from the cabbit article. Timbatron 19:22, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Final Fantasy V

Under Appearances: "Final Fantasy V - Introduces the Moogle Forest, as well as the Moogle theme song. A moogle is also kept as a pet and companion by one of the characters." I believe this is a mistake, as Final Fantasy V contained a Chocobo forest, and a Chocobo was kept as a pet and companion by the main character. It's been a long time since I played the game, though, and I don't have a copy lying around to verify this. Can anyone else do so? --SirAPKered 20:08, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

It's both, actually. Bartz has a pet Chocobo, true, but Krile has a pet Moogle (and one of her distinguishing characteristics, IIRC, is her ability to talk Mooglese), and there is indeed a Moogle forest. – Seancdaug 20:30, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

This had me in stitches - I believe that the editor meant tinkering. I'll spare you guys the trouble and change it, but this is a priceless Wikipedia edit. :)

Organizing

If anyone cared, I've added a picture of Montblanc, one of well-known Moogles in FFTA, whose making another debut in FFXII :) I have a suggestion: Can I organize the article so it looks a bit more structured? I am hoping to make it look like the Chocobo article (i'm a neat freak). Pompom Color

In FFXII [and possibly others, I haven't played most of the games], the pompom can be a variety of colors, not just red.

Merging?

Keep it put. Moogles at least as notable as, say, Cactuars or Tonberries, and probably moreso. Additionally, all of this info will not fit on the Races page. The Races page should just include some introductory info and link to this one; most of the races either exist in non-Final-Fantasy contexts (Humans/Humes, Elves, etc.) or only appear in one or two games. --HeroicJay 21:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

First outside appearance by a Moogle
