editI think that this page needs Wikipedia:Semi-protection_policy#Semi-protection. 달리나음 (talk) 18:06, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
Why does second para say "forcibly conscripted" but then recruited into special forces? Conscription by nature is not voluntary, and if "forcible" presumably he would not be recruited into an elite unit? Hvaltonen (talk) 02:44, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
I agree with Hvaltonen above. In South Korea, all adult males must by law perform a term of military service. I would propose changing "Later, he was forcibly conscripted to the military and recruited to the Special Forces..." to read "While performing his mandatory term of military service he was recruited to the Special Forces..."
Second 달리나음 above. Most edits are coming in rapidly as Moon won presidency, from people who do not cite sources, reformat randomly, and add in very poor grammar and spelling. 000aert2 (talk) 05:55, 10 May 2017 (UTC)000aert2
Note
editJust a note: the section on "Leftist agenda" has some serious tone issues, and presents him as a "known communist sympathizer" with no references. Inexperienced editor wanted to flag for more experienced folk. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.94.133.9 (talk) 15:54, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
POV Banner
editThe section seems to rely heavily on one source (WSJ) to promote only one side of an argument (that Moon Jae In's economic policies are problematic). Would recommend either deleting this section or finding more sources to counterbalance this issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NettingFish15019 (talk • contribs) 15:40, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
12th or 19th President
editFrom what I can tell, english sources say 12th. It's apparent, the Presidents of South Korea are being numbered by either individuals or by terms of office. I suggest we either have 'both' in the intro & infobox or nothing at all. If we show both - I'd recommend 12th (19th term) as a compromise. GoodDay (talk) 16:33, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Moon Yong-hyung
editAn editor has added descriptive content about Moon Yong-hyung. Is this appropriate here? Eyer contact 10:52, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
- The editor insists that this information belongs, so I moved it to its own sentence(s) and copy-edited it. I'll leave it for someone else to keep or remove. Thanks, all. Eyer contact 11:08, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
Date format
editWhy does this article use the month, day format? I think it should be switched to day, month as is done with numerous other Korean politicians (both North and South). ThePickeringtonian (talk) 15:05, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
Capitalization situation
editI'm assuming that if we're going to decapitalize in this article's intro? The same will be done for the intros of all the South Korean presidents bio articles. GoodDay (talk) 21:57, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Moon Jae-in
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Moon Jae-in's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 06:30, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
Term and term limit

Moon Jae-in → Moon Jaein – According to the revised Korean romanization system, names should basically be written as appendixes. Ehgud2077 (talk) 16:25, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. Moreover, this is also how the South Korean government writes his name. Basically no major news agencies or state governments ever use the "Moon Jaein" name referring the South Korean president. This proposal is basically performing the renaming of a president of South Korea. Please note the WP:OR policy. Cfls (talk) 22:07, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
- It is correct to officially write Moon as Moon Jaein and give his name according to Korean romanization. Ehgud2077 (talk) 07:24, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose for the same reasons as Cfls. Glide08 (talk) 10:25, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose and potentially even a WP:SNOWCLOSE - The current title is correct per both WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NCKO which recommends hyphenation. It is also clear that Moon Jae-in is the individual's preferred name (For example: His official Blue House Twitter account). The nominator is also wrong about Revised Romanization, Moon's name according to RR, would be Mun Jaein or Mun Jae-in instead of Moon Jaein. Per the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the hyphen is allowed in order to distinguish syllables in given names, meaning the hyphenated version is equally as valid of a romanization. This Korea Herald article{1} provides a graphic illustrating this fact from the Ministry. ⁂CountHacker (talk) 00:38, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Strong oppose this user has made a number of move requests along these lines. They do not appear to understand or be aware of WP:COMMONNAME. Agree on WP:SNOWCLOSE. 73.173.84.93 (talk) 14:07, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
