family village - inconsistency

edit

Our article currently lists Abu Marzouk's parents' village as Yibna, citing Ynetnews. However, the Forward interview says: "Born in Rafah, a southern Gaza city near the Egyptian border, to parents who hailed from a village near Hebron in the West Bank..." Hebron is quite far from Yavna, which is close to the coast. Does anyone have information that might clear up this inconsistency? GabrielF (talk) 20:39, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've been looking at this article recently as you've probably noticed. I'll have a look into this issue when I get a chance, but from what I've seen so far, this is just one of several inconsistencies. Others include years he studied, where here studied, what he studied, and probably others that I've already forgotten. Sean.hoyland - talk 02:10, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

"he was not a bright student"

edit

GabrielF, why would you include this kind of thing ? It's a BLP and we're an encyclopedia. Do you have a problem with the subject that could compromise your editing ? If so please just walk away or perhaps focus on factual information rather than opinions. Sean.hoyland - talk 17:59, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Profession

edit

His profession is not "political leader", but simply terrorist. In the same level with Issa Barrey, Ahlam Tamimi, Mohammed Ali Hammadi, Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad Shallah and other wanted criminals. Would you call Abdullah Yusuf Azzam "political leader" as well?

He is recognized as Specially Designated Terrorist in USA, a wanted criminal in Israel. 2A10:8012:3:22F1:8D87:957:E3BA:7C05 (talk) 11:05, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

RT

edit

Abu Marzuk gave the interview to RT. We have another source that comments on it, which means that they are sure that it is indeed an interview with Abu Marzuk. I believe that it's important to have the original as well so that the reader can see for themselves that this is indeed what was said. RT, for all its faults, isn't known for fabricating video interviews, so we can make an exception here. Alaexis¿question? 18:52, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

The interview was first broadcast by RT Arabic on Oct 27th. Here's the full 28 minute interview. There are no subtitles unfortunately. --Diamonddavej (talk) 22:18, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, the link I've added initially also has the full interview. Alaexis¿question? 07:05, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
There's no carve-out exception for WP:RT.COM. Amigao (talk) 14:45, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Birth date

edit

Not finding a source that gives his date of birth as 9 January 1951. The U.S. government lists his birthday as 9 February 1951, which would presumably match the date listed on his passport/Social Security application. Longhornsg (talk) 00:09, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
