Plans/ideas for improving this page

Hi all,

I'm a fourth year medical student. During the month of December, I'm hoping to fill out this stub into something more substantial for the benefit of anyone interested in the topic. Overall, I hope to provide a general review of the topic ranging from anatomy to clinical presentation to complications. My workplan includes: - Week of Mon 11/26 - Collect sources and outline - Week of Mon 12/3 - Draft sections - Week of Mon 12/10 - Revise sections - Week of Mon 12/17 - Add sources/images/links - Fri 12/21 - Complete my contributions to page

Hi, Overall, great expansion of this stub article! I enjoyed reading through the page and the flow felt better now with the "spread of oral infection" moved under the anatomy heading. Also, great job with the readability, specifically for the "signs and symptoms" section that I'm sure most patients would want to know about. There are an adequate number and good distribution of citations/references. Adding my thoughts and our classmates' suggestions from Monday's session:

• Avoid "medical jargon" (abscess, alimentation, etc..) or include brief explanations after using the term or a link to the associated wiki page. If necessary you could also consider a list of definitions towards the beginning of the page.
• Adding some pictures, particularly of the mouth/neck anatomy, would be helpful for more visual learners and to break up the text on the page
• Just a small point about style- consider just writing out "and/or" or "or" rather than the "/" symbol [....shifting/enlarging soft tissue...] for more of an encyclopedic feel

Kwanster8 - great suggestions. I completely agree with clearing up the "medical jargon". That'll be my big project for this upcoming week. I will add photos as best as I can too.
