Political position

edit

Here the political position can be discussed. I still stand by "Big tent" with a footnote. Akin to what is found with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) alliances. ZlatanSweden10 (talk) 01:03, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand it's a tough call, since it is dominated by a centrist party and only has a small right-wing or center-right component. However, "big tent" seems to imply more ideological diversity. While it is true that it is a coalition of the center and the right (two different ideologies), they are not from different parts of the spectrum. In other words, every party to the right of the ANC is in this coalition and it probably would never admit a left-leaning party into its ranks. It positions itself as an ideologically more right-leaning alternative to the ANC and EFF. I'd say "center-right" is more appropriate. Or maybe "center to right-wing" or something like that. 150.108.240.134 (talk) 22:29, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Parties that didn't make the ballot

edit

Many parties didn't make the IEC signature cut, should we remove them?

  • UNP is not on any ballot
  • SNP is not on any ballot
  • ISANCO is only on the provincial ballot for the Eastern Cape, but as far as I know the Charter explicitly excludes provincial legislatures.
  • EPP is not on any ballot
  • UCDP not on any ballot

The candidate lists:

My 2c here: if they are officially removed from MPC member list, and a prominent publication is made mentioning this, then a paragraph could be added mentioning this. I don't think wikipedians get to decide if these parties should still be listed here or not. Janneman27 (talk) 07:19, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

"Extra-parliamentary"

edit

Why is UIM "Extra-parliamentary" but ActionSA not "Extra-parliamentary"? They both seem to be in the same boat of not contesting the 2019 general elections (since they did not exist) and both are contesting the 2024 general elections.

The qualifying factor is not whether a party is "extra-parliamentary" or not. It is whether they are represented at any level of government. If you see the attached note, it states that ActionSA has local seats, whereas UIM has no representation at all. Janneman27 (talk) 06:08, 18 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Since the Multiparty Charter has no official logo or colors, using a neutral color and leaving the logo section blank ensures fairness for all the constituent parties involved. This approach avoids favoring any particular group and maintains impartial and inclusive representation for all members. EuKoketsolion (talk) 14:08, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Look at the tripartite alliance wiki page, they use the ANC's colors. That is why the Multi party charter should use DA's colors because they form the majority. If not, please remove tripatite alliance's colors. Guotaian (talk) 17:20, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Noted, but the ANC is the only member of the alliance with a significant presence in government, meaning the SACP and COSATU run on an ANC ticket. The other two alliance partners have agreed to be led by the ANC, whereas a majority of the constituent parties in the MPC each have a seat in some form of government also unlike the ANC the MPC doesn't have an elected leader. Having a neutral color is fair to all MPC parties. EuKoketsolion (talk) 11:30, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Who are you to make such orders? Does the MPC have an official colour? Is there any prominent and noteworthy article that mentions an official colour for the party? No? Then leave it as is. Who cares what the tripartite alliance page looks like!? Janneman27 (talk) 13:50, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Correct, a neutral colour is the way to go. Greenman (talk) 16:31, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
