edit

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to George Town, Penang, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. hundenvonPG (talk) 10:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)   Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Seberang Perai. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.Reply

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. hundenvonPG (talk) 10:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at George Town, Penang, you may be blocked from editing. hundenvonPG (talk) 10:06, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, may i please ask how is my editing distruptive? Guotaian (talk) 10:12, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
  1. Please read WP:ES before making unexplained deletions of content.
  2. Please read WP:DISRUPTSIGNS before making unexplained deletions of content.
  3. Please stick to the agreed upon MOS before making unsubstantiated formatting changes.
  4. Please provide proof that Arabic is officially or commonly in use for the cities concerned. Where was the consensus for adding Arabic?
hundenvonPG (talk) 10:28, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Its not arabic, its jawi, one of the official scripts of the malay language. Also Thai and hokkien has no official usage in malaysia, so it is right to delete them. Additionally, the formatting that im adding is the standard accross all malaysian cities articles. Guotaian (talk) 10:35, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. hundenvonPG (talk) 11:29, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Keith D (talk) 11:43, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I have been unfairly blocked. I received a block without receiving a warning. Being relatively new, I also still familarising with wiki which is why WP:DNB applies.

Decline reason:

You are hardly new. This account is approximately a year old and has made just short of 1500 edits. I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you:
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 19:03, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I changed a few articles languages from what i assumed was a helpful cleanup. As a new user, I am still unsure about the rules related to consensus and apologise for it. Can I please request a warning instead of a ban underWP:DNB. Guotaian (talk) 15:40, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Commitment to Consensus-Building on Wikipedia I now fully understand that my actions in adding or removing languages in the infobox of Malaysian cities without reaching a consensus with the community led to my block. Going forward, I will ensure that I adhere to Wikipedia's policies by building consensus in the talk page before changing. I recognize the value of collaboration in maintaining the quality of the platform. I am committed to avoiding any further disruptions and instead contributing constructively by participating in discussions to ensure any changes I make are well-supported. My goal is to make useful contributions to Wikipedia in a way that respects the community and avoid editing that can cause warring. Guotaian (talk) 10:17, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

In good faith accept their commitment to consensus building Keith D (talk) 20:24, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I fixed your request so it was not in a section header and contained your entire statement. Edits should be placed in the larger edit window, not the smaller section header/edit summary window. You can avoid creating section headers entirely by clicking "edit" and not "add topic" to edit this page. 331dot (talk) 07:54, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

My only question is, what will you do if efforts to reach a consensus on an issue fail? (hint) 331dot (talk) 07:56, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

If efforts to reach a consensus on an issue fail, I will respect Wikipedia procedures for resolving disputes. I will seek further input from the community and discuss on relevant talk pages. If necessary, request the involvement of a mediator to help guide the discussion towards a resolution. Guotaian (talk) 16:51, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Keith D This seems good to me, but what do you think? 331dot (talk) 12:40, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
331dot Looks OK, in good faith I will unblock user, but suggest they steer clear of editing the articles in question until a consensus can be reached, probably in a central place rather than individually on each of the articles. Keith D (talk) 20:14, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
