Presumption of investigation
editThe investigation into this reporter's death is not even complete and yet the article asserts she was killed by the IDF without concrete proof. This needs to be changed. 63.228.78.85 (talk) 20:33, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
Israeli occupation forces
editWhat's with the frequent use of Israeli occupation forces rather than the correct title of IDF? Strikes any reader as being either activist written or highly leading.
Needs to be changed or explained. 49.224.113.33 (talk) 09:43, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Palestine is occupied by Israeli forces. The West Bank is occupied by Israeli forces. Gaza is an open air prison maintained by Israeli forces. Multiple UN resolutions have condemned Israeli for stealing Palestinian land (Palestinians people who are more indigenous to that region of the Earth than many of the Ashkenazi living there now) and building illegal settlements on it. What Israel is doing is genocide and ethnic cleansing. Benjamin Netanyahu and Itmar Ben Givr are actual far right wing fascists. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8801:BE28:A800:FC35:E457:36D5:B62F (talk) 12:32, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is supposed to be as neutral as possible and the readers should be able to form their own opinions. Using this disparaging and mostly unaccepted terminology only hinders Wikipedia's goal of presenting these facts as they are. I recommend that these will be changed. - This kind of loaded terminology casts doubt the neutrality of the rest of the article, I cannot edit the article myself for I don't have the clearance but I recommend that somebody that does change this. BonkeySmoke (talk) 09:13, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
Shireen abu Akleh was Palestinian-American.
editWhy is Akleh not identified here as an American citizen? Is it because it's too embarrassing to again have to explain why Israelis are assassinating American women? (i.e. Rachel Corrie) 2600:8801:BE28:A800:FC35:E457:36D5:B62F (talk) 12:36, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure what happened there - it was correct on her main biography. Iskandar323 (talk) 13:14, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Murder of Shireen Abu Akleh → Killing of Shireen Abu Akleh – I'm not sure the current title is in line with WP:DEATHS. While the circumstances of this shooting are highly questionable, no murder or war crime proceedings have been initiated and the possibility remains that it was unintentional or a case of manslaughter. - Support. Per WP:DEATHS, we don't ascribe criminal blame to people (in this case, allegedly a soldier) without a criminal conviction. This has held in other renaming discussions, such as 2023 Hamra junction shooting. Longhornsg (talk) 17:59, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Very dubious circumstances, but no murder conviction. Clyde [trout needed] 05:01, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Please make the following changes in the "killing" section (necessary to remove POV):
Remove the unnecessary sentence "«the martyrdom of colleague Shireen Abu Akleh by Israeli army gunfire»".
Change "The network condemned this heinous crime," to "The network condemned Abu Akleh's killing".
Change "Ali Samoudi, a journalist from Al Jazeera office who was accompanying Shireen at the moment of her assassination, was injured during the journalistic assassination operation. He, too, received a gunshot wound to his back from Israeli occupation soldiers. He confirmed that "Shireen was cold-bloodedly killed, and the Israeli forces continued to fire even after she was injured."" to "Ali Samoudi, a fellow Al Jazeera journalist who was accompanying Abu Akleh, was shot in the back during the incident but survived. He later alleged that Abu Akleh had been "cold-bloodedly killed" and that the IDF had continued firing while she was on the ground.". Truecrimefan22 (talk) 21:19, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yep, these included some pretty egregious violations of WP:NPOV. Done Cerebral726 (talk) 21:25, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Question (pure curiosity)
editWas she in a declared war zone at the moment she was killed? Tigre-samolaco (talk) 06:03, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
"Israel occupation forces"?
editHow is this not a violation of WP:NPOV? The Israeli military's official name is Israel Defense Forces, but this article consistently refers to it as "Israel Occupation Forces". Nearly no other article uses this terminology, neither does most of the mainstream media. Wikipedia should be as objective and neutral as possible, so someone please change this pejorative term for the official name. Zohariko1234 (talk) 12:16, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
